DENEB

Casualty

The 9,15-m-trimaran 'Avanza' (MMSI: 228034820) belonging to the German solo sailor Rüdiger Schwarz capsized on the late afternoon of June 22, 2025, in the German-Danish border region northeast of the island of Rügen. The EPIRB signal of the Seacat 30 alerted the sea rescuers via satellite. The (MRCC in Bremen of the DGzRS, coordinated the SAR efforts closely with their Danish and Swedish counterparts, who had also received the automatic distress call. The MRCC Bremen requested the "Deneb", which was sailing near the accident site, to divert to the position indicated by the distress beacon. The "Deneb" located the capsized 'Avanza', and rescued the skipper from the upturned bottom with a dinghy. A Danish SAR helicopter then hoisted him aboard and flew him to Roskilde for medical treatment. The solo sailor, along with more than 70 other boats, was sailing from the Bay of Wismar to northern Sweden as part of the "MidsummerSail" regatta, when the trimaran capsized about halfway between the northern tip of Rügen and Bornholm. The rescue team informed the traffic control center of the capsized trimaran's position.

ARMINIUS

Casualty

Several people were injured in thr collision between a cargo ship and the "Arminius" on the Mittelland Canal in Hanover on June 20, 2025, at around 8:10 p.m. near the Noltemeyer Bridge when one of the ships attempted to overtake the other. Around 170 passengers were on board the excursion boat, six of whom suffered minor injuries. They received medical treatment on site; transport to the hospital was not necessary. When the fire department arrived, the excursion boat had already docked at the shore. Emergency services assisted the passengers to disembark. The guests then continued their journey home by public transport and taxi. After the accident, the cargo ship sailed to the Anderter Lock and docked there. The extent of the damage was initially unclear. According to the fire department, no operating fluids were leaking. The operation was terminated after about an hour. BAYESIAN

Casualty

The salvors of TMC Marine has slowly brought the 'Bayesian' to the surface over the three days ahead of June 20. The hull has been parbuckled, into an upright position, which gave access to the previously inaccessible starboard side that had been laying directly on the seabed, 50 metres below the surface of the Tyrrhenian Sea in the Mediterranean. During this time the vessel has been gradually lifted off the seabed so that additional lifting straps could be placed under the keel. The hull has been continually supported by eight steel lifting straps – four under each of the bow and stern sections – and which are part of a specially designed steel wire lifting arrangement. On June 21 the wreckage was stabilised further in the slings of the 'Hebolift 10'. BAYESIAN

Casualty

On June 20 the 'Bayesian' resurfaced for the first time ten months after sinking off Sicily. The salvage operation to recover the vessel has been ongoing for the last two months. The vessel has been slowly raised from the seabed, 50 meters down, over the past three days to allow the steel lifting straps, slings and harnesses to be secured under the keel. What became visible for the first time on the surface of the water was the top of the passenger area.
