270 people rescued by two SAR vessels

On Dec 28 the Salvamar Al Nair has taken 30 sub-Saharan people, among them 28 men, one woman and a child, to Arrecife, who were travelling on the fifth inflatable boat that Salvamento Marítimo has been assisting in the last few hours on its way to Lanzarote. After the four previous rescues of some 240 people carried out by the 'Guardamar Calíope', who were expected to disembark at around 11.50 am in the capital of Lanzarote, the ÄSalvamar Al Nair' was heading to the same port, Puerto Naos, with another 30 people. Their boat was spotted at around 09.20 a.m. by the cruise ship 'Amadea' 44.4 kilometres from Arrecife. Before that, another 240 people arrived in Puerto Naos on board the 'Guardamar Calíope', which had rescued them during the night and the first hours of the day after receiving successive alerts at the Salvamento Marítimo centre in Las Palmas. Once they have landed in Puerto Naos and received medical and humanitarian assistance, the final count of the migrants will take place.

Several emergencies were coordinated by the MRC in Las Palmas of Salvamento Marítimo on Dec 19. On the morning, the 'Salvamar Macondo' rescued 106 sub-Saharan people ten nautical miles south of Puerto Rico. They were transferred to Arguineguín and disembarked at 6:00 a.m. LT. The 'Salvamar Al Nair' assisted two inflatable boats with 119 sub-Saharan people on board, 59 on one rubber boat and 60 on the other. They were disembarked at 5:30 a.m. in Puerto Naos Arrecife. In the SAR zone in Morocco. Salvamento Marítimo supported the National Rescue Coordination Centre (CNCS) and the Maritime Rescue Centre of Las Palmas. The 'Guardamar Urania' assisted a boat with 49 sub-Saharan people on board, among them 41 men, four women, one minor and three deceased. The Helimer 202 SAR helicopter hoisted two people, one of them deceased). The Sasemar 1013 aircraft also participated in the response. On the way to Arrecife, the 'Guardamar Urania' carried out two other rescues: At 1.26 a.m. LT, 46 sub-Saharan people, among them 43 men and three women, were rescued, and at 3.35 a.m. LT another 55 people, among them 52 men and three women. all of them disembarked at 5.00 a.m. LT in Puerto Naos (Arrecife). 57 migrants rescued off Arrecife

On Dec 18, at 06.09 a.m. the 'Salvamar Al Nair' rescued 57 sub-Saharan people, among them 52 men and five women, 45 nautical miles east-northeast of Arrecife. Their inflatable boat had been located by the Helimer 202 helicopter. The emergency response was coordinated by the MRC of Salvamento Marítimo in Las Palmas.
