On Sep 10, 2024, the 'Hopterix', loaded with rolled products ran aground on in the Sulina Channel near Mile 17 on the right bank. The ship was heading to Brăila Port when it got stuck in pos. 45° 12' N 028° 52 E, iThe tug 'Sulina 2', belonging to the "Lower Danube River Administration" (AFDJ) Galati, was sent to the area to carry out refloating operations. Also, a team from the Sulina Port Authority was present on the spot to monitor the situation. Because the refloating operation was not possible with a single tug, a second tug, the"GalațI 3", was sent to assist on the morning of Sep 11. On the night of Sep 13, 2024, the CROSS Gris-Nez was informed that a migrant boat located in the Portel sector required assistance. The CROSS deployed the 'Jacques Oudart Fourmentin' as well as the gendarmerie patrol boat 'Maroni and a Dauphin helicopter of the French Navy. The boat was in poor condition and that the migrants were asking to be picked up. The lifeboat 'Président Jacques Lebrun-SNS 6295' from Boulogne-sur-mer also arrived in the area, followed by the fishing vessel 'Corentin Lucas'. 55 people were rescued. In addition to this operation, a further 61 people were rescued by the 'Maroni' off the coast of La Becque d’Hardelot, 48 people by the 'Ridens' near the old Walde lighthouse, while 25 other migrants remained on board the boat and continued their journey. They were finally recovered by the 'BF Voluntteer' in the English zone. The 'Jacques Oudart Fourmentin ' rescued 36 people at the end of the day. In total, 200 shipwrecked people were rescued and brought back to land, by the State resources deployed in this maritime zone. 18 attempts at boat departures were monitored by the CROSS Gris Nez, over the course of the day.

On the night of Sep 14 shortly before midnight, the departure of a migrant boat was reported in the Ambleteuse sector. The CROSS Gris-Nez deployed the 'Minck' to monitor the boat, which was heading towards the beach at Ambleteuse. It could not offer any assistance from the sea before the boat reached the beach. The CROSS Gris-Nez was informed about in an emergency situation, unconscious, on the beach. The CROSS then engaged a Dauphin helicopter of the French Navy and the 'Minck' in particular to search for possible shipwrecked people at sea. The CROSS informed at the same time the departmental fire and rescue operational center (CODIS) 62 and the gendarmerie operations and intelligence center (CORG) to provide assistance to the shipwrecked on the beach. The emergency services took charge of 53 migrants and, despite the emergency care provided, unfortunately confirmed the death of eight of them. No shipwrecked person was discovered during the searches at sea. An investigation was opened by the Boulogne-sur-mer prosecutor's office. In addition: - 66 people were rescued by the 'Abeille NormandieÄ off Le Portel, 17 people were rescued by the 'Ridens' off Dunkirk, In total, over 24 hours since midnight on Sep 15, 83 shipwrecked people have been rescued at sea, by State resources deployed in this maritime zone.
