On Aug 2, 2025, at 11.20 p.m. a fire broke out in the engine room of the 'Triangle', with six crew members on board, n the Markermeer, en route to Schokkerhaven, at the height of the Oostvaarders dike in Lelystad. The crew was unable to contain the blaze. The ship was berthed, and could be evacuated in time with no injuries reported. The fire department deployed several vehicles to extinguish the fire and got it under control within half an hour. Also the KNRM responded to the alert and dispatched a lifeboat. The damage to the engine room was extensive. The amount of smoke that was released was particularly playing a role.. The cause of the fire was unknown at this stage. After the investigations, the propulsion of the 'Triangle could be restored, and the ship was able to resume its voyage under its own power a few hours after the incident. PRESQUE ISLE
The "Presque Isle" was likely to be docked at Donjon Shipbuilding & Repair in Erie, PA, for repairs of the grounding damage, which it had suffered on the morning of July 30 at Johnson Point on Neebish Island. On Aug 4 the ship was en route to Toledo with an ETA as of Aug 5.
EL-DJAZAIR II
On Aug2, 2025, at 2.40 p.m. the ''El Djazair II' got in motion during the disembarkation of vehicles aat the dock in the port of Marseille, Several cars on the ramp were threateedto fall into the water. The vehicles belonged to members of the Algerian diaspora, who were waiting to collect their belongings after the crossing. The accident could have cost the lives of people who were still in their vehicles. The port authorities quickly opened an investigation to determine the causes of the incident, which seems to have been contributed to an improper mooring of the vessel, combined with the failure to properly install the ramp for cars to the quay. WIGHT LIGHT
Delays of at least 45 minutes were expected on the Yarmouth-Lymington route, due to mechanical issues with the hydraulic system of the 'Wight Light' on Aug 2, 2025. The cross-Solent ferry company announced the following timetable changes: Sailings from Yarmouth — 2.05 p.m., 3.05 p.m., 4.05 p.m., 5.05 p.m., 6.05 p.m., 7.05 p.m., 8.05 p.m., 9.05 p.m. and 9.50 p.m. Sailings from Lymington — 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Customers had to experience delays of up to 60 minutes. They were, however, asked to check in for the original sailing time. The 4.33 p.m. Wightlink announced the hydraulic problem was fixed and that ferries between Yarmouth and Lymington were operating according to schedule again.
HARBOUR PRINCESS
On the morning of Aug 3, 2025, the 'Harbour Princess' ran aground in the Burrand Inlet off Point Atkinson, West Vancouver, British Columbia. The vessel was on a morning excursion with 58 passengers on board, when it struck a rock in the Starboat Cove. The jolt knocked some passengers off their feet. The ship sent out a distress call with multiple agencies responding, led by the Canadian Coast Guard. The ship was escorted back to its berth in Coal Harbour, where it safely disembarked the passengers. Two of them were injured, one was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.
