HAFNIA NILE
After hitting the 'Hafnia Nile', the 'Ceres I' has been towed to a safe area approximately 20 nautical miles east of Tanjung Sedili, north of the collision site near the eastern end of the Singapore Strait. The MMEA has been told by the captain of the tanker that the 26 crew members that had remained aboard the ship were safe. An additional 14 crew members along with all 22 crew from the heavily damaged 'ÄHafnia Nile' have been accommodated in Singapore. The 'Hafnia Nile', which was holed in the waterline at port side and suffered severe fire damage, was also to be towed to a similar location to facilitate the investigations. Salvage experts have started their surveys of the vessel after the fire was out. The ship was drifting, but was not a hazard to navigation. The vessel was secured with tugs, and a ship-to-ship transfer of the naphtha cargo was being planned. During the next phase of the operation, Malaysia’s Department of the Environment will be responsible for the environmental efforts. An overflight of the area had showed a small amount of oil. The 'Ceres I' appeared to be empty at the time of the incident.
ARGOS GEORGIA
At least six crew members of the 'Argo Georgia' have died, 14 were rescued and seven missing east of the Malvinas. There were 27 crew members on board the Argos Georgia, of which 10 were Spanish and at least five of them Galician. The poor sea conditions and the position 170 miles from the Malvinas Islands, were making the SAR operation challenging. The 'Argos Georgia' issued a distress call when she was about 170 miles east-southwest of Port Stanley. The cause could have been a strong storm in the area, since at the time of the incident there were winds of 35 knots and swells with waves of between 5 and 6 meters. During the rescue operation, one of the fishing vessels that participated in the search located two lifeless bodies, while another fishing vessel reportedly found another dead crew member and one man alive. The Malvinas Islands fishing patrol managed to rescue 13 survivors from one of the drifting rafts. The crew launched three life rafts when abandoning the vessel, but, since one of them was not completely inflated, they had to concentrate on two. Among the Spaniards who were on board were the fishing skipper, the cook, two engine operators and two scientific observers. At least five of them would be Galician, the skipper from Vigo, and the captain of the crew, the first officer, the chief engineer and his relief, all from Ribeira. At least three of them were found alive, all of them from Ribeira. In addition to the Spanish crew members, eight Russians, two Uruguayans, two Peruvians and five Indonesians were sailing on the ship,. The last contact with the sailors took place at 9:23 p.m. Spanish time. The ship ended up sinking at dawn.

MAERSK FRANKFURT
In extinguishing the fire aboard the 'Maersk Frankfurt', four patrol boats of the Indian Coast Guard were participating, which used water cannons to water the containers on the bow and along the starboard side of the midship region. Officials of the maritime authorities predicted that it will take at least another day or two to completely subdue the fire. The operation was monitored from the air by a patrol plane of the Indian Coast Guard, while bags with a fire-fighting chemicalwere thrown from a helicopter directly onto the burning containers. A sailor from the Philippines was killed when an explosion occurred and the fire broke out in one of the containers stored on the bow of the "Maersk Frankfurt" on July 19 at around 2.30 p.m. LT. The body, which was on the bow of the freighter, has not yet been removed because it could not be approached due to fire and heat. The other 20 crew members were unharmed and not in immediate danger for now. A part of the contents of some of the 5.500 containers currently carried by the "Maersk Frankfurt" were various flammable and explosive substances that have been officially classified as IMDG. The fire has so far mostly engulfed the containers at the very bottom of the landing, where it was unlikely that containers with IMDG materials would be stored because of the safety risks of their eventual explosion on the structure of the ship's hull. The ship is managed operationally by the Hong Kong branch of the German management company Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement. The "Maersk Frankfurt" left the Imabari shipyard only in May and was on its first commercial voyage. The owners and management company were in constant contact with the crew on board and undertaking everything necessary to ensure that the crew received all the necessary support and assistance. The navigation equipment and steering mechanism of the ship were functional and in proper condition.

During the first, which occurred on the morning of July 19 off the coast of Libya, 49 migrants, including nine children and 16 women, who were in distress on an overcrowded inflatable boat, were rescued. On the afternoon, the crew rescued 130 other people in difficulty in a boat near the Tunisian coast. On the morning of July 20, 47 migrants were taken care of in international waters by the 'Geo Barents'. The Italian authorities have assigned the port of Livorno to the humanitarian ship, which was almost 1,100 km from the first rescue site. On the evening of July 20, the 'Aurora' rescued 71 people in collaboration with the sailboat 'Trotamar 3', which, in addition to this joint operation, supported 50 additional migrants. They were all landed in Lampedusa on July 21. The humanitarian ships were supported by the Italian Coastguard. The latter provided assistance to 126 exiles aboard three boats that had left Tunisia. Among the shipwrecked, originally from Ivory Coast and Guinea, were 18 women and as many children. They too were dropped off at the port of Lampedusa. Good Samaritans rescued four crew from the water, as Coast Guard boats, a helicopter and the Harris County dive team continued to search for the missing crew member. The body was located on July 20, and the salvage was underway on July 21. The Coast Guard was investigating the accident. AIS data showed the Miss Peggy was near the channel edge as the bulk carrier 'Yangze 7' was passing close by, suggesting it may have capsized from that encounter.
