DVADESETPRVI MAJ
A few days ago, the Crnogorska plovidba put both of its ships, the "Kotor" and the "Dvadesetprvi maj", on the used ship market, because at the initiative of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, which claimed that the state allegedly no longer had any legal possibility to support this 100% state-owned company to maintain liquidity, the Government made a decision to urgently sell both of Crnogorska's ships. The "Kotor" has beem detained in Tyne on Aug 4, 2025. The 'Dvadesetprvi maj' has been anchored off Laem Chabang in pos. 13° 12' N 100° 50' E since its arrival from Yeosou on Aug 3.

FREDRIKKE T-OLSEN
The 'Fredrikke Tønder Olsen' had to cancel the service on the Helgeland Commuter Route on Aug 7 at 07:30 a.m. until further notice due to a technical fault with the power supply on board. The ship was sidelined in Ørnvika for troubleshooting and proceeded to Sandnessjøen at around noon for permanent repairs, where it remained stationary as of Aug 8. The ferry operator Boreal Sjø inserted the ferry 'Jernøy' (IMO: 9429766) as a replacmenent, and the service was resumed from Sandnessjøen at 7:00 p.m., calling at Nesna at 7:30 p.m., Stokkvågen at 08:00 p.m. and Onøy with connection NEX at 08:20 p.m. Other scheduled trips were served according to the schedule.
PERLA DE PALAMOS
On Aug 7, 2025, at around 5:00 p.m. the medical evacuation of a crew member from the'Perla de Palamos' was requested, while the ship was sailing 5.5 nautical miles west of Llafranc. The CCS Barcelona of Salvamento Mar´itimo mobilized the SAR boat 'Salvamar Sirius', which embarked the fisherman and transported him to Palamós for further medical attention ashore.
MJOELNER-FUR
On the afternoon of Aug 6, the 'Mjølner', en route from Mjølner, allided with the quay as it was about to dock in Fur. The impact was so severe that it tore a fender off the outermost part of the pier. A piece of rubber fell off and got lodged in the propeller Divers were sent into the water to examine the damage to the ship. It was assessed that the ferry could not continue sailing. Therefore, for several hours it was impossible to get to or from Fur. The allision was due to the strong gusts of wind. A reserve ferry has been called in, the 'Mary' from the Sundsøre-Hvalpsund route at 5 p.m. The 'Mjølner' was meanwhile repaired and waiting to be approved by the Danish Maritime Authority. The ferry returned on the route on the morning of Aug 7, releasing the 'Mary'.
EVER FEAT
On the afternoon of July 29, 2025, the 'Ever Feat', en route from Navegantes, berthed in the port of Montevideo with two container bays being heavily affected, with between 30 and 40 units crushed, bent, or dislodged. At least two 40-foot containers were left hanging precariously over the vessel’s port side, risking loss overboard, after encountering forceful winds and high waves near Rio Grande do Sul. The structural damage included twisted lashing bars, crushed container walls, and visibly distorted fittings on deck. Work was started in order to secure the cargo to allow the ship to sail again. The National Port Authority (ANP) was in charge of the planning, along with the shipping company and the corresponding port operators. The Coast Guard issued a series of recommendations for prevention during the handling of containers, due to the fact that they contain fertilizers, which are classified as toxic or polluting. The cargo was being handled by the company Monteco. It was currently unknown if any of the containers fell into the water. Due to the damaged containers, each client's insurance policies were activated. As a precaution, containment and clean-up protocols were triggered alongside a full cargo review. The nature of the collapse suggested internal system stress caused by extreme rolling and pitching, possibly exceeding the vessel’s designed stability limits. Classification society surveyors boarded the ship early on July 30. Their work included verifying hull integrity, checking for leaks of hazardous materials, and examining damaged lashing equipment. The 'Ever Feat' remained stationary in Montevideo as of Aug 8. KOTOR
The "Kotor" completed the unloading of a cargo of wood pellets in the port of Tyne on Aug 6, 2025, but due to an order from the British PSC inspection, it will not be able to sail from that port until further notice. On Aug 4, PSC inspectors conducted an expanded inspection of the bulk carrier in Tyne and Wear, and found 22 defiencies, some of which have to be rectified before the ship is allowed to continue its voyage. Most of the shortcomings related to minor problems that indicated that the crew of the "Kotor" was unmotivated to perform daily tasks on the ship, which included its regular maintenance and cleaning, due to untimely payments by the company Crnogorska plovidba, which has been facing the problem of insolvency for months. There was a chronic lack of spare parts for timely repair of minor defects on the ship: corrosion on some fire pipes, damaged insulation on some electrical installations on deck, non-functional fire detectors in several rooms of the ship, defective insulation devices used in the event of a fire, hydraulic system pipes for opening and closing the broaching devices from which hydraulic oil was leaking, leaks in the fuel pumps on cylinders 1 and 4 of the main engine, water leaks from the main engine cooling system, corrosion on the part of the door leading from the superstructure to the ship's deck, porous exhaust system of the third auxiliary engine, limitedly functional buckle on the lifeboat, lack of a couple of screws on the lid of one of the ballast tanks. The PSC inspectors found that some areas on the ship, such as the sanitary facilities on the bridge and in the engine room, were insufficiently clean, there was an increased presence of flies in the ship's galley, and the refrigerator had not been cleaned, greasy rags and waste were found in the engine room in places where they should not be, the floors were either greasy or covered in water. The inspectors also found several deficiencies on the ship related to the living and working conditions of seafarers, i.e. violations of the MLC Convention, as they determined that there was no running hot water in several rooms on the "Kotor", as well as the fact that two seafarers had been on board continuously since July 22, 2024, which exceeded the industry standards maximum permitted duration of embarkation of nine months. The crew of the "Kotora" received their last salary for the month of June, after which the ship was detained in the port of Savannah. The crew complained to the inspectors that on as many as eight occasions from December2024, to July, their salaries were late or were paid in half. The British PSCV inspectors also determined the same thing that US Coast Guard inspectors had previously determined in the port of Savana, a poor implementation of the International Safety Management Convention (ISM), for which they gave Crnogorska plovidav three months to remedy it. A few days ago, Crnogorska plovidba put both of its ships, the "Kotor" and the "Dvadesetprvi maj", on the used ship market, because at the initiative of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, which claimed that the state allegedly no longer had any legal possibility to support this 100% state-owned company to maintain liquidity, the Government made a decision to urgently sell both of Crnogorska's ships. Until this happens or the deficiencies have been rectified, the "Kotor" will remain detained. The ship had been berthed in Savannah from June 14 until July 13 and arrived in Tyne on Aug 3.
PAN.PARAVOUNIOTISSA
The 'Panagia Paravouniotissa' has been refloated on the evening of Aug 7 by the tugs 'Protug 18' and 'Vernicos Skafi II', assisted by an anti pollution vessel of the Greek Coast Guard. The salvage company had maintained buoyancy with an air compressor, which pressed air into the cracked compartments. Divers had detected multiple tears in the hull along a length of 10 to 15 meters. The ship-owning company had previously submitted the salvage plan, and the relevant permits were granted by the Port Authority, while earlier, a classification society inspected the ship and found no damage to the rudders, as the captain had claimed. The ship then sailed unassisted to the fishing shelter of Nea Stira, where it was safely moored in pos. 38° 10.48' N 024° 12.28', escorted by the tugs and two patrol boats. Subsequently, an inspection was carried out, where there were no further observations except for the bow crack at starboard side, on which sealing work had been carried out. An oil boom was also placed as a precaution. The 1st Port Department of Nea Stira of the Karystos Port Authority prohibited the ship from sailing until the presentation of a seaworthiness certificate from the monitoring classification society. I After the arrival in port, 35 cars and three motorcycles were offloaded on the late evening in order to be returned to their owners. The cause of the accident was being investigated by the judicial authorities as well as by the shipowner's inspectors, the ship's surveyor and the ship's insurers. Naval architects and experts were constantly on the scene recording all data for the assessment of the damage, while the passengers of the ship were preparing to file lawsuits. FINNMARKEN
After a new 14-ton unit was added to the 'Finnkarken' over a two-day timeframe, which included a two-hour operation to put it in position, the ship has been undergoing a series of tests with work now taking place onboard to get the vessel ready to welcome guests back soon. Hurtigruten had to cancel a cruise of the ship to allow for the drydock. Sailing to the Norwegian coast, the 14-night cruise had been scheduled to depart from the port of Hamburg on July 25 with visits to Stavanger, Bergen, Træna, Senja, Nordkapp, Tromsø, Reine, Lofoten and Haugesund. Affected guests were offered the choice of rebooking their reservation on an alternative departure or receiving a full refund of the cruise fare. Hurtigruten also covered any additional costs incurred as a result of the cruise cancellation. The 'Finnmarken' has now been set to resume its regular cruise schedule on Aug 8, sailing from Hamburg for another voyage to Norway. At 4 a.m. UTC it left the berth at the Steinweg Terminal and shifted to Steinwerder, where it docked at 4.45 a.m. Before drydocking at the Norder Yard, a major modernization project had been undertaken while the ship spent a month in drydock at the Frederikshavn shipyard, before resuming service under its original name. Before the refit, the vessel had been sailing as the 'Otto Sverdrup', a name it gained during another refit in 2021. EVER LUNAR
On Aug 1, 2025, the 'Ever Lunar' lost approximately 50 containers, while being anchored in pos. 12° 01' S 077° 12' W in the Callao Bay, approximately 3.9 nautical miles northwest of San Lorenzo Island. The container ship had been berthed in Callao for cargo operations, but left the port due to the tsunami warning issued, without all the containers being secured. It moored on anchorage 1, where it experienced severe rolling, causing the containers at the stern to fall into the sea. One of the containers was left with half of its structure hanging off the side of the ship, while three other units lay fallen on the ship's deck. Multiple containers were floating along, spilling some of the cargo they were storing, mostly cardboards. The incident prompted a temporary closure of the Port of Callao, which halted operations at the DP World terminals, APM Terminals, and other companies operating in the area. and stopping vessel traffic in the region. Maritime security advisories were issued, and vessel movements were halted throughout the bay. The weather conditions were dense fog, overcast skies, and high humidity associated with the South Pacific Anticyclone. The National Emergency Operations Centre (Coen) of the National Institute of Civil Defence (Indeci) confirmed that the containers did not contain hazardous goods. The National Port Authority (APN) reported that recovery operations would be undertaken by specialized salvage companies under the coordination of the Maritime Authority. Fishermen and onlookers mobilized in small boats to collect drifting boxes, many still sealed, that the sea had dragged ashore. Two patrol boats, the 'Costa Sama' and 'Río Chira' (MMSI: 760001220), were deployed to secure the area while tugs 'Ram Vigo' ((MMSI: 677900000)) and 'Tiamat' ((IMO: 8112184)) were deployed to the Callao Bay to assist in removing the floating containers. The relevant authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. The crew was safe on board. n the On the afternoon of the same day and following further technical assessments, the DICAPI announced a reduction in the alert level, establishing a partial closure (Level IV), restricting maritime traffic to the Central Zone: Callao Bay; North Zone "A": Pampilla 1, Pampilla 2, and Pampilla 3; North Zone "B": Solgas and Pure Biofuels; North Zone "C": Tralsa 1, Tralsa 2, Surfisa, Quimpac, and Zeta Gas; and South Zone: Conchán Multibuoys and Unacem Lima Docks, in addition to Ancón Bay. Later, operations throughout the port were fully restored. The recovery time for the lost boxes was expected to take between 15 and 20 days. The 'Ever Lunar' remained anchored off Callao as of Aug 8.
