On the early afternoon of Sep 7, the CROSS Gris-Nez was informed that a migrant boat had set sail, and deployed the 'Ridens' to relocate the boat and check the situation in the area. Arriving off the coast of Calais, the people on board the boat requested assistance. The crew of the 'R'idens' launched its semi-rigid and recovered the 65 people on board. They were then dropped off at the quay in Dunkirk, where they were taken care of by shore based rescue services.

On Sep 7 at noon, the Port Authority of Kyllini was informed by the Master of the 'Kefalonia' that while the ship was executing a scheduled route from the port of Zakynthos, a malfunction of a vehicle ramp occurred. The Kyllini Port Authority initially banned the ship from sailing, but after an inspection by the local inspection team and the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classification society, it was allowed to continuef the sailing with 63 passengers on board.
TOG MOR
The "Tog Mor" ran aground on the beach of Villa Allende, in the port of Coatzacoalcos,, south of the state of Veracruz, due to the inclement weather caused by the passage of tropical wave 21 and cold front number 1 in the Gulf of Mexico on Sep 7, 2024. The vessel was destined for the docks of the Permaducto company, on the Coatzacoalcos River. The tugs 'Veracruz, Cordobés' and 'Corsario' left from the port of Coatzacoalcos, to try to correct the course of the "Tog Mor", but they did not succeed ahead of the grounding. CARNIVAL SPIRIT
The 'Carnival Spirit' collided with a small piece of ice sailing through the Tracy Arm Fjord, home to the twin Sawyer Glaciers, on a 7-night cruise in Alaska on Sep 5, 2024. The impact caused minimal damage. The crew conducted a thorough inspection to assess for any potential damage and ensure the safety of all passengers. The piece of ice, smaller than a growler or large iceberg, hit the starboard side of the vessel. After crew members had completed their inspection with a small boat, the ship was cleared to resume the sailing and continued to Skagway. SALVAMAR LIBERTAS
On Sep 6 the pleasure boat 'Emma' with six people on board, among them one1 baby, which was located near Torrenova in the Bay of Palma, requested towing assistance and indicates that it was drifting owards the rocks. The CCS Palma of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the 'Salvamar Libertas' and a civil protection boat, which was in the Lima Uno area, and after a towing connection was established, the boat could be pulled to safety.
NAVIOS CELESTIAL
On Sep 7, 2024, at around 2 p.m., the 'Navios Celestial' was in allision with the bulk carrier 'Friendly Island' (IMO: 9615042) at Chattogram Port. The incident took place when the 'Navois Celestial', carrying a cargo of DAP fertiliser, hit the 'Friendly Island', which was anchored and unloading lentils, with its starboard side stern at the bow. The impact caused damage to both vessels, including the propellers of one vessel becoming stuck. An investigation is underway by the local port authorities to determine the cause of the accident. As of Sep 9, the 'Friendly Island' was moored in pos. 22° 16' N 091° 43' E, and the 'Navios Celestial' in pos. 22° 17' N 091° 42' E.
FOURMENTIN
On Sep 7, 2024, the CROSS Gris-Nez was informed that a migrant boat has set sail off Berck and deployed the 'Jacques Oudart Fourmentin' to relocate the boat and check the situation in the area. At the same time, a migrant on board the boat reported to the CROSS that a person had fallen into the water. The CROSS engaged the semi-rigid of the SNSM station of Berck, the 'SNS 709 Jean Baptiste Fournier' and the Dauphin helicopter of the French Navy based in Le Touquet. The 'SNS 709' located and recovered the conscious person on board who was immediately dropped off ashore and taken care of by the mobile emergency and resuscitation structure (SMUR). At the same time, 57 people on board the boat requested assistance from the patrol boat. About 15 people still on board refused the assistance offered by French resources and continued their journey under appropriate surveillance. Once the rescue was completed, the crew wasinformed that two people had fallen overboard, in order to come to the aid of the first person who fell into the water during the attempted crossing. The patrol boat and the hydrographic vessel 'Laplace', which was in the area then began searching. The CROSS Gris-Nez simultaneously engaged the Dauphin helicopter of the French Navy as well as the helicopter of the air gendarmerie section of Amiens to try to find other people at sea. At the same time, the land patrols of the firefighters and the SNSM carried out a coastline and did not detect any shipwrecked people. After the sector was ully investigated, the maritime prefect of the Channel and the North Sea decided to interrupt the search. An investigation was opened by the Boulogne-sur-Mer public prosecutor's office.
BLUE STAR CHIOS
On the evening of Sep 7, the Central Port Authority of Rhodes was informed by the Captain of the 'Blue Star Chios' that a crew member had suffered a fracture of the metacarpal bone on board the ship. The victim was taken to the Rhodes General Hospital for medical treatment. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the Port Authority of Rhodes.
WM INGLIS
The 'William Inglis' had to do emergency stop after suffering mechanical issues while docking at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal in Toronto on the evening of Sep 5, 2024. The ferry drifted into the wooden slip at thel downtown terminal at around 6:15 p.m. Paramedics and Toronto police's marine unit were called to the scene but no injuries to passengers or crew were reported. An investigation is underway to determine exactly what happened, and the ferry has been removed from service.
AP REVELIN
The 'AP Revelin' ran aground on the Paraná River on Sep 6, 2024, at around 11 p.m., completely blocking the main channel at river kilometer 341.8. The ship, which was sailing with a draft of 9.54 meters, was carrying 32,074 metric tons of soybean meal bound for Turkey, after having loaded at the port of San Lorenzo. The incident has caused the temporary suspension of all operations on the waterway. The blockage was affecting both cargo ships and other vessels that use ther waterway. Immediately after the grounding, the captain requested urgent assistance. In response, the tug 'RE Candela S' was dispatched and arrived at the scene on Sep 7, at 1:20 p.m. to try to free the ship and restore navigation. The causes that led to the grounding were being investigated. After having been stuck for 12 hours, the bulk carrier was refloated on Sep 7 at 1.15 p.m. and taken to San Pedro for surveys.

The Belize flagged cargo m/v 'Phrygia' (IMO: 8842583) was in collision with the 'Maia' on the Don River in the Rostov Region on Sep 5, 2ß24, near the city of Azov. SUMMER SEA
On the evening of Sep 5, 2024, the Port Authority of Thira was requested by the Greek Coast Guard-Hellenic Coast Guard to provide assistance to a vessel that was in a difficult position 12 nautical miles south of Anafi. A patrol vessel rushed to the scene, as well as the passenger-boat 'Melina' and the 'Summer Sea', which was en route from Maentyluoto to Iskenderun. A Polish sailing ship was spotted, and the 'Melina' took on board the 4 people, among them 23 men, 03 women and 17 minors, and then transported them ato the port of Thira, where they disembarked safely. Two men, aged 25 and 22, were arrested by the Thiras Port Authority, which was conducting the preliminary investigation, as human traffickers, for violating article 83 of Law 3386/05 (Illegal entry into the country), article 25 of Law. 5038/23 (Facilitation) in conjunction with article 47 of the P.C. FD ATHINA
On the afternoon of Sep 8, the Port Authority of Argosaronicos was informed by the Master of the 'Flying Dolphin Athina' about a failure of the starboard side main engine in the port of Piraeus. The ship had a scheduled itinerary for the ports of Aegina and Agistrio with 44 passengers on board. The Port of Argosaronicos banned the ship from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by themonitoring classification society. The passengers were forwarded to their destination by the care of the owner company.
CHRISTIANA P
On Sep 5, 2024, the 'Christiana P' was immobilized in Ramallo due to a power outage. The bulk carrier was carrying 40000 tons of sorghum and bound from the ACA Terminal in San Lorenzo to the Buenos Aires port of Quequén to load another 25000 tons barley, bound for China, and was sailing towards Puerto Quequén. Although it was initially thought to be grounded, the ship actually suffered a blackout. The ship had to emergency anchor practically in front of the Puerto Martins Shipyard.
CARNIVAL BREEZE
The US Coast Guard medevaced an 52-year-old man from athe 'Carnival Breeze' off Galveston, Texas, on Sep 5, 2024. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a medevac request at 7:55 p.m. from the cruise ship, stating a 52-year-old male passenger presented symptoms of a stroke aboard the vessel. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac. The watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter air crew to conduct the medevac. The helicopter arrived on scene, embarked the passenger and transported him to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in stable condition.
TYNDALL
The 'Tyndall', en route from Mobile, being loaded with approximately 100,000 tons of cargo, suffered an engine malfunction when arriving at the port of Tampa on Sep 5, 2024 with pilot assistance. The vessel had a speed of 1.5 knots while approaching the dock in Tampa Bay. When the ship was 200 feet from docking, the pilot ordered the engine to reverse to slow down the vessel, but the engine did not start reversing, and the 'Tyndall' continued moving forward, posing risks to another vessel, the cargo crane, and the docking area. The pilot at once changed the course of the ship and called for two tugs to get itl under control. Eventually, the vessel slowed down and went past the berth without crashing into other ships and port infrastructure. The incident was reported to the U.S. Coast Guard, and the vessel underwent a thorough investigation before getting the approval for the departure from the port en route to Puerto Cortes on Sep 7.
