The captain of the 'COS Master' was banned from sailing for two weeks by the Disciplinary Board of Shipping. The sanction was imposed because the crew tender allided with a buoy off the coast of Belgium on Aug 6, 2024, and sprung a leak. The crew boat, which is used to transport technical personnel from Ostend to the Borssele offshore wind farm, sailed over a buoy with two crew members and 13 passengers on board. The 'COS Master' then returned to Ostend. According to the ILT inspector, the captain did not keep a proper lookout and sailed at a high speed of approximately 20 knots while he was doing other work. According to the inspector, this led to the collision. The captain then allegedly handed over the watch to a sailor who was not authorized to do so. The captain acknowledged that he did not keep a proper lookout and that the allision was the result of this. He was distracted by a changed assignment and weather report. The captain also acknowledged that he should not have left the sailor alone on the bridge. But he did dare to do so with this experienced sailor and so he was able to see for himself whether it was safe to sail back to Ostend. However, the Disciplinary Board fully agreed with the inspector. The captain should have stayed on the bridge himself and let the engineer inspect the damage. That is why the captain's sailing license has been suspended for four weeks, two of which were conditional.

On the night of April 11, a migrant boat got in difficulty, and the CROSS Gris-Nez deployed the 'Abeille Normandie' to locate and monitor the boat, as well as the SNSM lifeboat 'SNS-067 Mona Rigolet' from Calais. The lifeboat picked up the 28 occupants of the boat and delivered them to the dock in Calais. Once near the boat, some of the occupants requested assistance. The 'Ridens' rescued 19 people from the boat, while the remaining occupants continued on their way. At midday, the CROSS was once again informed of the departure of a boat from the Hardelot area, and engaged the 'DFP1 Jacques Oudart Fourmentin' to locate and monitor it. Once on site, the customs vessel rescued three occupants from the boat. Several people still on board refused any assistance and continued on their way. The three rescued people were dropped off at the quay in Boulogne-sur-Mer. In total, 50 people were rescue and safely brought to the ashore, where they were taken into care by land-based rescue services.
MSC SINFONIA
On the afternoon of April 11, 2025, the Corfu Port Authority was informed that the'MSC Sinfonia', which was moored in the new port of Corfu with 2193 passengers and 730 crew members on board, had sufferd a failure of the starboard side propeller of the propulsion-steering system. The Corfu Central Port Authority initially prohibited the departure of thecruise ship. Upon the presentation of a seaworthiness certificate from the monitoring classification society, it was permitted to depart for a single voyage, accompanied by the tug 'Megalochari XIV' (IMO: 9199452), to the port of Bari, where it arrived late on April 13, and not at 8:00 a.m. as originally planned. On the way from Corfu to Bari, the ship sailed at only four knots at times, thus not reaching the necessary cruising speed to arrive at the port on time. MSC Cruises has canceled its Eastern Mediterranean cruise, which was scheduled to begin on April 12 in Bari, less than 24 hours before departure. Guests with different embarkation and disembarkation ports, were also affected by the cancellations. Guests affected by the cancellations will receive a full refund of their travel costs and a travel credit for a future MSC cruise equal to the price they paid. Meanwhile, technicians were working diligently to resolve the issues. How long this will take was not yet known, as it depended on the severity of the technical issues. The 'A Rosa Riva' suffered an engine failure on the Danube near Ybbs-Persenbeug (Melk district), with 170 people on board, on April 12, 2025. The ship was en route from Bratislava to Passau when, shortly after the Ybbs-Persenbeug lock, it suddenly became unmaneuverable and ran into an embankment on the riverbank on the early evening. The 'Joseph Gerczak' was among the units of the US Coast Guard, which were searching for the 23-foot recreational fishing vessel 'Makalapua Ona Lani'. with one person aboard off he Island of Hawaii, on April 10, 2025. Coast Guard Sector Honolulu watchstanders received a report at 2:17 p.m. from Hawaii County Fire Department dispatchers regarding the overdue vessel, which has a white hull, blue trim and twin outboard engines. Missing was Earl Hind, a 42-year old man who was scheduled to return from a fishing trip in the vicinity of South Point on the morning of April 9. Hind’s family members confirmed that his truck and trailer were still located at the boat ramp. Sector Honolulu watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point HC-130 Hercules airplane crew and diverted the 'Joseph Gerczak' to aid in the search. Also involved in the search were the Hawaii County Fire Department and the Department of Land and Natural Resources. Anyone with information that may assist in search efforts should contact the Coast Guard on VHF-FM channel 16 or call the Sector Honolulu command center at 808-842-2600.

On the morning o April 11, the departure of a migrant boat was reported to the CROSS Gris-Nez from the Portel beach area. hortly after its departure, the boat suffered engine failure, prompting all occupants to request assistance. The 'Minck' was deployed to assist and rescued the 34 people on board the boat and took them to Boulogne-sur-Mer, where they were taken into care by the shore-based rescue services.

BLUE STAR CHIOS
In the midday hours of April 13, 2025, the Halki Port Authority was informed that the'Blue Star Chios', during its arrival at the port of Halki, experienced a malfunction in the electric automatic folding system of the central ramp. Theferry safely moored at the port and disembarked 86 passengers from the starboard side stern ramp, while after manual folding of the central ramp, 21 cars were disembarked. The Halki Port Station of the Central Port Authority of Rhodes initially banned the ship from sailing. Upon presentation of a seaworthiness certificate from the monitoring classification society, the ship was permitted tcontinue its approved route with destination to the ports of Diafani Karpathos - Pigadia Karpathos - Kasos - Sitia - Heraklion - Anafi - Thira - Piraeus.
LOCH FRISA
The 'Loch Frisa' has suffered an issue with the drencher system. As a consequence, the vesselwas unable to carry any dangerous goods until April 30. Affected bookings were to be contacted directly by the ports. En route from Altinova to Yalova the 'Karadeniz Orhan Ali Khan' ran aground in pos. 40° 40' N 029° 19' E at the Yalova Anchorage on April 10, 2025, at around 10 p.m. UTC. The emergency tug 'Nen Hatun' (IMO: 9675004) and the tug 'Şark' (MMSI: 271043518) responded along with the lifeboat 'Kıyı Emniyeti 3', a diver team and salvage experts. The ship refloated with the rissing water level of April 11. The "Karadeniz Powership Orhan Ali Khan" belongs to the electricity-producing fleet of the Turkish energy company Karpowership and is considered to be among the largest ships in the world of that kind. SKY PRINCESS
On April 8, at around 10:45 p.m., a burst pipe aboard the 'Sky Princess' caused massive flooding in several public areas of the upped deck. The leak triggered emergency measures and temporarily led to the evacuation of passengers from central sections of the cruise ship, which was completing its seven-day round trip from Southampton to Spain and France. Water from the burst pipe, which was connected to the Sky Pool, poured across several decks and flooded the popular Piazza atrium on decks five and six. The scene was described as being initially chaotic, but was quickly brought under control. passengers were reported to their muster stations while the crew attempted to contain the major water issue. Teams immediately shut off the water and began cleaning the areas. Evening entertainment in other areas was uninterrupted, and guests were able to resume use of the piazza on the morning of April 9.

ISLE OF CUMBRAE
The 'Ilse of Cumbrae', serving on the route Largs-Cumbrae, suffered an issue with its hydraulic pump, affecting a vessel's ramp, on the morning of April 12 , The vessel got unavailable for service with the option of operating single-ended if required. Investigations were started. As part of the repairs, the vessel was required to transit to Cumbrae. The 'Loch Shira' was operating as normal on the route meanwhile. On April 13, the repairs have been completed, and the vessel returned to service service.
COLOR MAGIC
On April 11, a patient needed to be medevaced from the 'Color Magic', en route from Oslo to Kiel, by the Danish Defence. At 12.09 a.m., a rescue helicopter from Aalborg hoisted the person from the ferry, which was in a position north of Anholt, and transported him to a hospital ashore for further medical care.
