Ferry assisted troubled Austrian yacht
On the afternoon of June 16, the Port Authority of Sitia was informed about an Austrian sailing vessel with a mechanical damage and limited use of sails 3.7 nautical miles east of Crete. The 'BLue Star Chios', which was performing a scheduled route from the port of Kasos to the port of Sitia, was asked to assist and located the yacht with one Austrian on board in good health, and remained on the scene for possible assistance. The yacht headed to the fishing port of Kouremenou, with the assistance of the fishing vessel 'Anna D' The Port Authority of Sitias banned the boatl from sailing, until a certificate of repair of the damage was presented.
Migrant unrest on ferry
The 'Blue Star Chios' encountered migrants unrest when about to leave Rhodes port, Rhodes island, on Oct 29, 2023. About 400 migrants blocked the ferry ramp, demanding their immediate transfer from the island to a more suitable place. There was a conflict between migrants and regular passengers. The ferry managed to leave Rhodes at around 3.10 p.m. LT (EEST), and as of 4.10p.m. EEST she was under way, bound for Piraeus.
Passenger injured on board
The Port Authority of Thira was informedin the morning of Aug 15, 2023, about an injury of a female passenger on board theferry en route from the port of Piraeus. The woman, while going down the inner passenger staircase from the deck, tripped resulting in an injury to her right ankle. After finding a doctor it was found that she suffered a second degree sprain. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the Port Authority of Thira.
