A patient was airlifted to hospital after a medical incident onboard the 'Queen Mary 2' in the Firth of Forth on Sep 1 at around 9 p.m. An HM Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick was circling above the cruise ship south of Kinghorn to conduct the medical evacuation and transported the casualty to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Three stowaways were found hiding aboard the ‘Great Sheng Wen’, which was berthed at Paradip on Aug 30, 2024. The ferry was operating a scheduled route from the port of Kavala to the ports of Limnos, Mytilini, Chios, Karlovasi and Vatheos Samos, with 923 passengers on board. The ship returned to the port of Kavala, where it docked safely. The Central Port Authority of Kavala initially banned the ship from sailing, while uponthe presentation of a certificate of class maintenance from the monitoring classification society, it was allowed to continue the planned route. No injuries were reported from the incident and no marine pollution was observed.

The CROSS immediately engaged the coastal maritime surveillance vessel of the Oyapock gendarmerie to secure the boat. Once the VSCM was on site, the migrants on the boat were requesting emergency assistance. The crew then launched their semi-rigid boat and rescued 28 people. The rest of the people expressed their wish to continue their journey to British waters, under the surveillance of the 'Abeille Normandie', which was engaged by the CROSS to reinforce the VSCM. The 28 rescued people were then dropped off at the quay in Dunkirk and taken care of by land rescue services. At the same time, the CROSS hired the rescue vessel 'Ridens' to monitor a boat off the coast of Malo les Bains. When it arrived on site, it rescued one person who had fallen into the water and assisted 10 other passengers. MV KAMILLA
The Philippines flagged passenger m/v 'Kamilla' caught fire off Navotas City on Sep 2, 2024, after it was struck by the landing craft LCT 'GT Express' amid rains brought by the tropical sorm Enteng at Navotas Anchorage Area located at A. Santiago St., Barangay Sipac-AlmacenThe 'GT Express' was swept away by strong currents and hit the training ship, which was anchored at 7:28 a.m. The PCG tried to send a floating asset to rescue the crew but failed to do so due to strong current and unfavorable weather conditions. At around 9:19 a.mn. the 'Kamilla' reported a fire onboard. . The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) raised the incident to a first alarm at 9:28 a.m. It remained on standby since firefighting and rescue was not possible due to strong winds and high waves. At around 10:50 a.m. the 'Kamilla'’s owner informed the Coastguard that the crew already abandoned the vessel. Eight minutes later, MTUG Phil Leyte reported that they initially rescued 17 of the 18 crew members. and brought them to the CGSS Navotas at around 11:15 a.m. The BFP Navotas Medical Team provided medical assistance to the rescued sailors. The last crew member was rescued at Barangay Sipac-Almacen and taken to the Navotas City Hospital for medical treatment. Meanwhile, the PCG deployed the BRP 'Suluan (MRRV-4406)' to conduct firefighting and advised the master to file a marine protest at the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Manila. SALVAMAR ENIF
On the earlymorning of Sep 1, the 'Salvamar Enif' has rescued a total of 13 people who were sailing through the Strait of Gibraltar in two inflatable boats. The RCC in Tarifa of Salvamento Marítimo was alerted at 9:00 p.m. by phone. The 'Salvamar Enif' asked the ships that were passing through the area to inform it of any sightings. The crew of a merchant ship informed the rescuers of the coordinates, and initially they picked up six men. Minutes later, the 'Salvarma Enif' was notified by another ship of the sighting of a second boat carrying seven people, four of them minors. The rescue team went to the rescue, and finally disembarked the 13 people in the port of Algeciras.
KNRM-KONING WILLEM 1
On Aug 31, 2024, the crew of the 'Koning Willem 1' received a report about a vessel with engine problems. During the call-out, however, the lifeboat ran aground on a sandbank behind the ferry pier near Schiermonnikoog, probably due to a combination of the very low water level and a strong easterly wind. The 'Esonborg', which happened to be in the area, immediately came to help. Within ten minutes, the crew of the 'Esonborg' managed to pull thelifeboat free, using a tow cable. After this quick intervention, the lifeboat was able to continue its journey and start the rescue operation.
BRP TERESA MAGBANUA
Chinese vessels continued to swarm the BRP 'Teresa Magbanua' of the Philippine Coast Guard (PGC), that has been damaged by rammings about 75 nautical miles from Palawan on Aug 31, 2024. On Sep 1, the ship remained anchored off Escoda Shoal despite sustaining damage from being rammed multiple times by the China Coast Guard (CCG) vessel with bow number 5205. The vessel had lifted its anchor at 8 a.m. with the intention of loitering around Escoda Shoal. When it was already on the move at 12:07 p.m., the CCG vessel 5205 carried out the dangerous maneuver resulting to its direct ramming at the port side bow. The Chinese ship turned around, then rammed the PCG vessel anew, hitting the starboard quarter. The 'Teresa Magbanua' was originally surrounded by the tigs 175 and 186 People’s Liberation Army Navy and Chinese maritime militias.The 'Teresa Magbanua' suffered damage in its bridge wing and freeboard. No injuries to the crew were reported. At least two CCG vessels and two People’s Liberation Army Navy tugs were also spotted near the 'Teresa Magbanua', raising the possibility that China will attempt to tow the Philippine ship away. The 'Manahau' , with 11 people on boad, dragged its anchor and ran aground at Carters Beach, near Westport, where it had been moored for five days, on Aug 31, 2024, around midnight in a storm. Maritime NZ staff along with with local and regional authorities and the operator Westland Mineral were are working on a plan to refloat the vessel. No one was injured, the vessel was not damaged and there was no cargo on board at the time of the incident. On Sep 2, contractors managed by the operator were working to keep the barge stable. A digger had been used to bury anchors on the beach to help stabilise the vessel and a helicopter made several trips to drop supplies onto the ship. A tug was called from Taranaki to support the salvage later this week. The 'Manahau' had arrived in mid-August to begin shipping mineral sands mined at Cape Foulwind from Westport to Nelson and were just doing their second load.
