All 11 crew members were rescued. On Sep 4, the wreck was raised by a crane by the Van den Tak salvage company and repaired at the De Groot en Van Vliet shipyard in Slikkerveer.. In 1971, the transport of vegetables, fruit, and livestock came to an end. amd the ship changed owners twice. The last one changed its name to 'Fortuna'. In 1998, the ship was chartered and served as a tender for goods and passengers on the east coast of Scotland, but was mainly deployed as an offshore support vessel. One of her last assignments involved serving as a guard vessel at the K13-A platform in the Dutch North Sea. HANSA HORNEBURG

Misc. for ports and Vessels

The Italian Coast Guard has detainedthe 'Hansa Horneburg' n Genoa, en route from Miami via Vado Ligure, for not being fully compliant with the requirements for limiting nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, after its arrival in port on Aug 21, 2025, following a safety inspection carried out on board the vessel by personnel from the Port State Control Inspection Unit. Despite possessing valid certifications issued by the flag state confirming compliance with international MARPOL conventions, the ship was found to be non-compliant with regulations limiting nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. It was found that several components of the onboard electric generators lacked the identification elements of conformity required by legislation and the NOx Technical Code for the prevention of air pollution. As a result, it could not be ensured that the ship was operating within the parameters needed to keep NOx emissions within regulatory limits. The inspection covered all operational areas of the vessel and also included an emergency drill to assess crew preparedness. The ship would only be permitted to depart once all deficiencies have been rectified under the supervision of the flag administration and classification society and after passing a final inspection by the Port State Control team. The 'Hansa Horneburg' remained stationary as of Aug 28.

DISNEY WISH

Misc. for ports and Vessels

Hours after departing Nassau, Bahamas, guests sailing aboard the 'Disney Wish' were alarmed when the secret emergency code for "man overboard" was broadcast throughout the ship on Aug 26, 2025, at around 8:00 p.m. The cruise ship began to slow down, and crew members launchedsearch and rescue efforts. They were throwing life rings over the port side of the ship, and at least two rescue boats were deployed. Eventually, all guests were asked to report to their muster stations, so the crew could conduct a headcount and identify potential witnesses. Everyone onboard had been accounted for. Still, all guests had to stay in their assigned assembly stations, even after their headcount was finished, until the entire ship was cleared. [The captain made an announcement on the morning, confirming that everyone was safe and said that it was most likely a large piece of debris in the water that was mistaken for a person. As consolation for the interruption of the events in the night, everyone was comped $150 to their accounts. TINOS I

Misc. for ports and Vessels

The owners of the 'Tinos I' said in a court filing that Vitol was ‘seeking to take advantage’ of the sanctions designations ‘to force the sale of the vessel and then buy it at auction’ The Court’s orders for arrest and attachment of the vessel should be vacated as these were prohibited without explicit authorisation from Ofac, the lawyers argued. The attachment was ordered by a judge earlier in August, arguing they were not permissible absent an authorisation from Ofac. They have also accused plaintiffs Vitol of seeking a forced sale of the vessel. The tanker has been stranded off Houston since arriving in Houston on its maiden voyage in June 2024. The tanker was sanctioned on April 22, 2025, as part of an Ofac action against the Iranian businessman Seyed Assadolah Emamjomeh and his network of companies in Iran, the UK and the United Arab Emirates. Emajome’s son, Meisam, was also designated. Th actionwas taken pursuant to the administration’s maximum pressure campaign and Executive Order (E.O.) 13902, which targets those operating in certain sectors of the Iranian economy. This action was in furtherance of Treasury’s implementation of National Security Presidential Memorandum 2 (NSPM-2), instituting a campaign of maximum economic pressure on Iran. The tanker was going to be sold under a license issued on May 20, by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control. OFAC’s license provided for a number of transactions related to the vessel, including the sale of the ship, provided the net proceeds of the sale be placed into a blocked interest-bearing account at a U.S. financial institution. It was limiting the sale to the U.S. and the vessel’s entry into any new contracts with blocked persons. As an alternative, OFAC was also making it possible for the safe docking and anchoring of the vessel, emergency repairs, and environmental mitigation or protection activities. They are also permitting actions for the health and safety of the crew and the provisioning of the vessel, bunkering, pilotage, towing, and similar services.

EAGLE S

Casualty

Captain Davit Vadatchkoria of the Russia-linked 'Eagle S' was instructed by his shipping company to destroy evidence after the ship was seized by Finnish authorities. The instruction to conceal evidence is among a range of investigative material publicized by the Finnish Central Criminal Police (KRP) as part of the prosecution in the Helsinki Criminal Court. The captain and two senior officers were charged with aggravated criminal mischief and aggravated interference with communications. The transcript of a wiretap released as part of the prosecution of the three men revealed that just days after the ship was detained, the captain was warned by the shipping company’s technical department to hide a list of subsea infrastructure that the ship had crossed over: “So don't share this list with anyone, please. Destroy it. Because they will come back and demand compensation from you for all the damages,” The captain verbally agreed to destroy the list. Other material made public by Finnish police included the revelation that the VDR of the 'Eagle S' was not functioning at the moment the ship severed the Estlink 2 power cable,. After police ruled out intentional manipulation, the malfunction was attributed to the older vessel’s systems being dependent on receiving a GPS signal, something the ship could not find due to Russian GPS interference in the region. The prosecutors argued that the senior crew members were recklessly negligent while the defendants contend that the incident was an unfortunate but typical maritime accident. They were also challenging Finland’s jurisdiction.

AREL 7

Casualty

The 12.20-metre Mazu 42 yacht 'Graywolf' of the Turkish businessman Halit Yukay, 43, who owned a yacht shipyard and company in the Altınova district of Yalova, was destroyed in a collision with the 'Arel 7' in the Marmara Sea. On Aug. 4, 2025. Yukay set sail from Yalova aboard his yacht en route to Bozcaada at 3.10 p.m.. The 'Arel 7', carrying cement from Canakkale to Izmit Kocaeli, experienced a sudden jolt near Marmara Island. Testimonies from the crew of the cargo ship suggested that the accident occurred while the sailors were preoccupied with a barbecue on deck, leaving the vessel’s helm unattended. The entire crew rushed to the deck after noticing wreckage, but no one called for help, assuming that the ship’s officer in charge would handle it. The ship berthed in Izmit on Aug 5 at 4 a.m. with signs of a collision at the bow. Security camera footage showed the captain of the 'Arel 7', t 4:17 a.m., coming to the bow to look at the ship, then standing at the port side bow to look at the ship again. These images, along with photographs of the ship, which was identified as having distinct scrape marks at its bow, were included in the investigation file. The yacht was found shattered and half-submerged off Marmara Island on Aug 5 at 2:30 p.m. by a commercial vessel navigating off the Turanköy, Kapıdağ Peninsula. An SAR operation was launched with one helicopter, one diving team, and seven boats from the Coast Guard Command. A dive team also searched into the partially sunken boat, but their search yielded no results. The teams' investigation determined that the engine serial number of the shattered boat matched that of Halit Yukay's yacht. Underwater footage of the boat, which was dived by teams from the Coast Guard Southern Marmara Group Command, revealed that it had been destroyed. The wreckage was towed to Ekinlik Island and brought ashore by crane as part of an investigation launched by the Marmara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. On the sixth day of the search, divers from the Bursa Police Department's Seaport Branch, the Çanakkale Police Department's Seaport Branch, and the Samsun Police Department's Seaport Branch found debris washed up on the rocks north of Paşalimanı Island, also believed to belong to the 'GraywolfÄ. The debris was also sent for expert examination. Only after 19 days of search operations, navy divers recovered Yukay’s body at a depth of 68 meters on Aug 23 at 7 p.m. Using side-scan sonar and ROV devices in the divers' inventory, the body was detected on the seabed near the probable collision site. Efforts to recover the victim's body were ongoing. Prosecutors have placed the captain, the second captain, and seven other crew members of the 'Arel 7' under investigation. The captain was detained in Yalova on charges of "causing death by negligence." He was released on probation and an international travel ban. Following an objection from the Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, he was detained again in Istanbul and arrested on Aug 10. The captain and his deputy were facing charges of causing death by negligence, while the rest could be prosecuted for failing to report a crime. Investigators suspected that the captain had switched the vessel to automatic pilot mode before leaving the bridge, without assigning a lookout. A record from Türkiye’s emergency service also entered the case file. It showed that the wife of one crew member had phoned 11,, claiming: “My husband’s ship struck something, but the captain told the crew to stay silent.” Although she later retracted her statement, prosecutors were treating it as evidence. Experts have confirmed that samples taken from the ship’s damaged bow matched paint layers from Yukay’s yacht, strengthening the suspicion of a collision. Investigators also retrieved a navigation console from the wreckage of the 'Graywolf'. Since the device was too damaged to be read in Türkiye, it has been sent abroad for further examination. As the investigation continued, prosecutors were working to determine the full scope of responsibility for the incident that cost Halit Yukay his life. LINDENGRACHT

Casualty

The head-on collision on the IJsselmeer between the inland vessels 'Lindengracht' and 'Zandink I' was entirely the responsibility of the latter. The skipper of the 'Zandink I' ignored a passing agreement made shortly before the collision, according to a Rotterdam court ruling. The damages were more than €600,000. The ships were sailing towards each other on March 1, 2023, on the IJsselmeer. The 'Lindengracht' had just left the Houtrib Lock, to which the 'Zandink 1' was heading. The skippers discussed how they would pass each other via radio. This did not prevent the ships from colliding on their port sides. Because both parties blamed the other for the collision, a lawsuit was filed by the Cement Tankvaart (RCT) from Raamsdonksveer owner of the 'Lindengracht', and sought nearly €604,000 in damages, plus €26,500 for costs incurred to assess the damage and liability, and almost €5,000 in extrajudicial collection costs. Eeltink Zandwinning, Handel en Transport in Nijkerk, as the owner of the 'Zandik I', in turn, demanded that RCT be held liable, and additionally, €130,000 in compensation plus the costs for six weeks' lost time. All parties agreed that a passing agreement was made, which could not have been misunderstood. And everyone also believed that this agreement was central to determining who was at fault. Specifically, it concerned the following: "The 'Lindengracht' and 'Zandink I' were to pass each other port-to-port. To this end, the 'Zandink I' was to sail in front of the Lindengracht and towards its starboard side of the fairway. The 'Lindengracht', in turn, was to sail slightly more towards its starboard side." However, both RCT and Eeltink claimed that the other failed to comply with this passing agreement. Both parties have also provided evidence to support this claim. Remarkably, the Tresco footage of both vessels also supports the claims of both parties. This data therefore did not provide a conclusive answer. However, the judge considered the camera footage of the 'Lindengracht' to be conclusive. These recordings were played during the hearing, and both RCT and Eeltink presented their own perspectives on the matter. The images showed three things, in short, according to the ruling: "That the 'Lindengracht' was sailing on the starboard side of the fairway, that the 'Zandink I' had passed in front of it, and+ then suddenly veered to port." The judge ruled: the 'Lindengracht' was not at fault for the collision, and the 'Zandink I' was therefore the only one at fault. Eeltink's claims were therefore dismissed. As a result of this ruling, RCT was entitled to almost €604,000 in damages. More than two-thirds of this amount concerns repair costs. Lost time amounted to €94,000, combating the oil pollution that also occurred cost over €76,000, and the company spent €15,000 on installing and removing a compressor. Eeltink disputed over €6,100 in repair costs. The company also argued that RCT could not be held responsible for any delays, as the 'Lindengracht's cancellation could have been compensated for with other vessels in the fleet. However, the judge dismissed all these objections and awarded the full damages requested. This also applied to the other compensation claims and the legal costs of nearly €2,000.
