MAERSK SANA
On April 28, 2025, the 'Maersk Sana' was disabled and adrift in the Sargossa Sea in pos. 31°52.50' N 057°48.55' W after an engine explosion. Two crew members were severely burned. Vessels in the area were asked to keep a sharp lookout and assist if possible.
NHO PADRE BENJAMIM
On the afternoon of April 14, 2025, at 5.15 p.m. the 'Nhô Padre Benjamim' sank off the coast of São Nicolau. The ship reportedly encountered difficulties near Preguiça de São Nicolau, in an area known as "Praia Sgorfe." The ship was traveling between Sal and São Nicolau, transporting, among other things, gravel and trucks for construction work at the Preguiça airport. The 20 people on board, 19 crew members and one passenger, were safe. The crew was rescued by local fishermen and is being housed at the Meia Mona sports pavilion in Ribeira Brava. The shipwreck occurred upon arrival on the island of São Nicolau, off the coast of Cape Verde. The Authorities are investigating the causes of the shipwreck. Due to an earlier technical issue that has now been resolved, MV Loch Frisa, serving on the route Oban-Craignure on April departed Craignure at 2:45 p.m., about 55 minutes late.
MSC PROSPERITY II
On April 26, 2025, the 'MSC Prosperity II' suffered an engine failure while transiting south of Kepez in the Dardanelles Strait, en route from Port Said to Yalova. Under the coordination of the Çanakkale Ship Traffic Services Center, the vessel was successfully relocated to ensure the safety of navigation and avoid disruption to maritime traffic. On April 28, 2025, a distress alert was received from the 'Templario I' off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. There were multiple DSC acknowledgments from Miami and Tokyo coast stations. The position was 09°49' N 086°17' W.
FRENCH WARSHIP
The search for the Petty Officer Léo Soulas, a crew member of the 'Charles de Gaulle' and assigned to the 'Forbin', who was reported missing at sea, has been called off on April 25. There was no longer any chance of finding the sailor who fell overboard from the 'Forbin' during the night of April 23-24. The Maritime Prefecture of the Mediterranean announced the end of the search. The sailor who died at sea was named Léo Soulas, a petty officer. The Chief of Staff of the French Navy confirmed the sad news: "Petty Officer Léo Soulas, a sailor from the Charles de Gaulle and assigned to an escort ship, was reported missing at sea. The search, conducted by several ships and aircraft, was unfortunately unsuccessful. I express my thoughts to his wife, the family of the missing man, and his comrades in the carrier strike group. I assure them of the Navy's unwavering solidarity."
ABEILLE NORMANDIE
On the night of April 27, the CROSS Gris-Nez was informed of a migrant boat leaving the Walde lighthouse area east of Calais and engaged the 'Cormoran' to locate and monitor the boat. During the night, its occupants requested assistance. The 'Cormoran' then rescued all 77 occupants of the boat and brought them back to the quay in Calais, where they were taken into care by land-based rescue services. On April 27, 2025, several migrant boat departures were reported to the CROSS Gris-Nez, which initially deployed the operational drome boat (EDO) of the 'Cormoran' to locate a boat in the Wald lighthouse area. Once on site, the EDO made contact with the boat; a person on board requested assistance. The crew of the 'Cormoran' proceeded to recover this person. The remaining people of the boat refused all assistance and continued on their way. Following the assistance, the CROSS again engaged the 'Cormoran' to locate and monitor a migrant boat in the Grand Fort Philippe area. Once on site, all the boat's occupants requested assistance from the 'Cormoran'. The 19 people rescued by the 'Cormoran', as well as the man rescued earlier, were taken to the port of Calais and taken into care by the authorities on land. Mid-morning, the CROSS was once again informed of the departure of a boat north of Calais and engaged the 'Abeille Normandie to locate the boat. Once on site, the crew recovered the 29 people on board who were requesting assistance and took them to the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, where they were taken into care by the authorities on land.
ISLE OF CUMBRAE
Until further notice, the 'Isle of Cumbrae', serving on the route Largs-Cumbrea, was unavailable for service due to an issue with the vesssel ’s aft ramp, until contractors are able to carry out further investigations.
MARIE CURIE
On the night of April 28, 2025, a medical evacuation of a Spanish passenger was requested from the 'Marie Curie. The SAR helicopter Helimer 204 was mobilized to the ship which wa sailing 45 nautical miles off Punta Anaga. The patient was thoited and ransferred to Tenerife North Airport, where an ambulance was waiting to take him to the University Hospital. The 'Gem Star' of the Russian shadow fleet was NUC on April 29 and has been taken in tow by the tug 'Roma'. The ships were headed towards Algeciras.
BLUE STAR NAXOS
On the afternoon of April 28, 2025, the Tzelepi Port Authority was informed by the 'Blue Star Naxos' about the injury of a 63-year-old passenger as the ship was sailing from the port of Paros to the port of Piraeus. The 63-year-old, due to the ship's forward tilt due to the adverse weather conditions, hit her left shoulder on the armchair she was sitting in, resulting in her injury. The injured woman was picked up by an ambulance and transferred to the Piraeus General Hospital. A preliminary investigation is being conducted by the 1st Tzelepi Port Department of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus.

HEBRIDES
The 'Hebrides' serving on the route Uig.Lochmaddy.Tarbert suffered a technical issue on April 28. As a consequence, the 07:20 a.m. sailing from Lochmaddy departed late at 08:28 a.m. and was due in Uig at 10:13 a.m. Investigations into the technical issue were ongoing. Remaining sailings were liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice.
