The “Shtandart” will not be able to moor in Brest, nor in any port in Finistère. While it was to participate in the Brest Maritime Festival from July 12 to 17, 2024, the ship will not be able to stay in Brittany. The Finistère prefecture has issued an order prohibiting access to the port in the frame of the restrictive measures linked to the war of Russia against Ukraine. If the decision came so late, it is following the modification of the regulations targeting the Russian fleet. Since June 24, this regulation now includes historic replica ships within the scope of banning access to the ports of European Union member countries. This decree was notified to the captain of the ship, who is therefore not authorized to access the port of Brest, in which he wished to moor from July 10, nor to any other port in the department. Accustomed to large maritime gatherings, it has participated several times in the Brest festivals organized every four years. Since the start of the Russian invasion in 2022, the training ship has continued to participate in several major events such as the Douarnenez maritime festivals, the Armada in Rouen or the Gulf of Morbihan week.

AVEMAR DOS
On July 3, 2024, a woman aboard the 'Avemar Dos' gave birth to her daughter while the ship was carrying out its regular route between Ceuta and Algeciras, approximately 20 minutes after the ship began to set sail from the Port of Ceuta. The ferry crew, trained to handle emergencies of various kinds, quickly mobilized to assist. Several healthcare providers did not hesitate to collaborate. Thus, with the help of the ferry staff, they set up an area of the ship so that the woman could give birth in safe and as comfortable conditions as possible given the circumstances. The birth, although unexpected, proceeded without complications.
PALMGRACHT
On July 6, 2024, the 'Palmgracht', en route from Constanta to Hamburg, requesed the medevac of a sick crew member. The CSS of Salvmamento Marítimo in Almería mobilized the SAR boat 'Salvamar Spica', which took the man off and transported him to Almeria, where he was handed over to health workers.
ABEILLE FLANDRE
On July 4 the 5-ton-propeller of the 'Abeille Flandre' has returned to Brest to be permanently exhibited in the Parc à Chaînes. The propeller, with its transmission shaft, recalls the history of the emblematic storm chaser. One of the captains of Abeille Flandre, Charles Claden (sponsor of Brest 2024), will come to celebrate the opening on July 14. After having been refurbished, the propeller testifies to the power of the tug whose mission was to defend the Breton coasts from maritime disasters, after the grounding and loss of the tanker 'Amoco Cadiz'.
