The 'Miss Peggy' was raised from the Houston Ship Channel, after it had capsized following a possible collision with a passing ship. Five people were aboard the Miss Peggy when it flipped over just before 3 p.m. in eastern Harris County, half a mile from the Lynchburg ferry landing. Good Samaritans rescued four crew from the water, as Coast Guard boats, a helicopter and the Harris County dive team continued to search for the missing crew member. The body was located on July 20, and the salvage was underway on July 21. The Coast Guard was investigating the accident. AIS data showed the Miss Peggy was near the channel edge as the bulk carrier 'Yangze 7' was passing close by, suggesting it may have capsized from that encounter.

BETELGEUSE
On July 21, 2024, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran intercepted the 'Betelgeuse', laden with 1500 tons of marine oil, 60 nautical miles southwest of Port Busher. The vessel had loaded the marine oil at Khor Al Zbair. The Revolutionary Guard Navy believed the ship to be involved in fuel smuggling, and it has therefore been seized by the Iranian Judicial order. GEO BARENTS
The 'Geo Barents' and 'Aurora' have assisted 297 migrants during the weekend of July 19-21 in the Mediterranean, while the Italian Coastguard rescued 126 people off the coast of Lampedusa. Like every summer, departures from African coasts to European shores are increasing. Initially, the 'Geo Barents' provided assistance to 226 people during three operations. During the first, which occurred on the morning of July 19 off the coast of Libya, 49 migrants, including nine children and 16 women, who were in distress on an overcrowded inflatable boat, were rescued. On the afternoon, the crew rescued 130 other people in difficulty in a boat near the Tunisian coast. On the morning of July 20, 47 migrants were taken care of in international waters by the 'Geo Barents'. The Italian authorities have assigned the port of Livorno to the humanitarian ship, which was almost 1,100 km from the first rescue site. On the evening of July 20, the 'Aurora' rescued 71 people in collaboration with the sailboat 'Trotamar 3', which, in addition to this joint operation, supported 50 additional migrants. They were all landed in Lampedusa on July 21. The humanitarian ships were supported by the Italian Coastguard. The latter provided assistance to 126 exiles aboard three boats that had left Tunisia. Among the shipwrecked, originally from Ivory Coast and Guinea, were 18 women and as many children. They too were dropped off at the port of Lampedusa. Furthermore, the 'Ocean Viking' disembarked 55 migrants on July 20 in Naples, who were rescued two days earlier in the MalteseSAR zone.
ZEAL
The 'Zeal' requested a medevac after a crew member suffered numbness in the lower body accompanied by very low pulse on July 21, 2024. The Indian Coast Guard took the ailing crew member off about 20 kilometers off the Porbandar coast by an Advanced Light Helicopter which was launched at first light under trying weather conditions. The helicopter, braving the high intensity winds, heavy rainfall and inclement weather, arrived at the 'Zeal' about 20 kilometers from Porbandar. The patient was then successfully evacuated using the rescue basket, and provided interim relief in the aircraft by ICG medical specialists after landing at Coast Guard Air Enclave, Porbandar. Once the condition of the patient was stable, he was handed over to the local agent for further medical management.
JOHN PAUL DE JORIA
Paul Watson, founder of the NGO Sea Shepherd, was arrested in Nuuk, Greenland, on the morning of July 21, 2024. Japan, which is regularly targeted by the NGO due to its controversial whaling activities, had issued a request for the activist's arrest and extradition. Watson, who is also co-founder of the NGO Greenpeace, was arrested when he arrived in Nuuk aboard the 'John Paul DeJoria', which berthed in the port with 25 volunteers on board to resupply. The ship was bound for the Northwest Passage in the frame of the Operation Kangei Maru, to intercept Japan's new whaler 'Kangei Maru' in the North Pacific. Watson will be brought to court, where police will ask for his detention. Then it will be decided whether or not he will be extradited to Japan. The NGO asked the Danish government to release Captain Watson.
