The 'Orihime', en route from Tubarao to Oita, was boarded by four unarmed perpetrators on July 8, 2024, off Pulau Cula om the Strait of Singapore in pos. 01° 3.58' N 103° 39.46' E. The perpetrators had been spotted on the stern of the vessel, which had just arrived in Singapore waters from Tubarao. The master raised the alarm and the ship’s crew mustered to conduct a search, but no perpetrators were found onboard. Nothing was reported stolen, no injuries were reported.

On July 9, 2024, the British maritime security agency United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) received a report of an attack on the Maersk Sentosa, transiting through the Red Sea. The incident occurred 180 nautical miles east of Nishtun, Yemen. The captain reported that the vessel experienced a nearby explosion. The vessel did not report any damage and is sailing towards its next port of call. No casualties were reported. The vessel was attacked using various ballistic and wing missiles in the north of the Gulf of Aden. A spokesperson of Houthi terrorists also claimed to have attacked two other vessels, the Marathopolis, sailing in the Arabian Sea, and the MSC Patnaree III in the Gulf of Aden using drones. Earlier on July 7, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) destroyed two Houthis uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the Houthis-controlled region in Yemen.

The Advantage Sweet, which was detained by Iran for more than a year, has been released and departed from Bandar Abbas Anchorage on July 11, 2024. The ship was boarded by Iranian troops in the Gulf of Oman on April 27, 2023. Iran detained the tanker, alleging that the vessel hit an Iranian boat in the region and continued moving without addressing the incident. However, Iran's motive in seizing the vessel was believed to be retaliation against the U.S. court action. The U.S. court issued an order for the seizure of Iranian cargo from the oil tanker Suez Rajan with the proceeds designated for the compensation fund for the victims of the Sep 11 attack. In August 2023, the cargo ofcoil from SUEZ was offloaded at the Texas coast. In March 2024, the Tehran court, Iran, ordered the seizure of the cargo worth $50 million aboard the Advantage Sweet. It was reported that the seized cargo of would be used to fund the compensation program for Iranian patients suffering from Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare genetic skin disorder. A Sweden medical company, that manufactures special dressing and bandages for Epidermolysis Bullosa disease restained these supplies to Iran after the sanction implemented by the U.S and other Western countries. On July 11, the court of Iran gave the verdict by ordering the U.S. government to pay $6.8 billion to the patients suffering from the Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) skin disorder.

The 'Verbena', which had been attacked by Houthi terrorits with anti-ship cruise missiles and was abandoned by its crew, remained afloat as of July 3, and was waiting to be salvaged. One armed guard on board had been injured during the attack.

The Red Sea and Gulf of Aden Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) confirmed on July 9 that the Verbena, that was attacked by Yemen's Houthis on June 13, has been towed away from its threat area and was en route to its next port of call. The Verbena was targeted by three missiles while it was transiting the Gulf of Aden, 98 nautical miles east of Yemen. Yemen's Houthi's later claimed responsibility for the attack.
