Ship detained as Polish master was drunk

Fri May 06 09:25:19 CEST 2011 Timsen

As the Polish captain the "Hestia" was too drunk in the afternoon of May 5, 2011, the ship was prohibited to leave the port of Lübeck by the water police. During a control of the Federal Police at 3.15 p.m., the policemen remarked alcohol odor. They informed the maritime police. They performed a breath alcohol test that yielded a value of 1.82 per thousand. Because the ship was to depart at 4 p.m., it was detained for safety reasons. The shipping company exchanged the drunken captain immediately. At 10.45 p.m. the ship had a new master and departed from the port of Luebeck with destination Mukran.
