Willem upright again

Fri Apr 03 10:27:25 CEST 2015 Timsen

the sheerlegs "Cormorant" and "Albatros" turned the wreck of the capsized Dutch flagged sand barge “Willem”, 2100 ts (EU-No.: 2007046), upright at the Hoofd Plate on the Wester Scheldt in the early morning of Apr 3, 2015. In the morning hours the hull was being dewatered. The operation started at 3 a.m., and 45 minutes later the ship was turned around. In the run of the day it was to be towed to the De Schroef Yard in Sluiskil. The "Willem" had capsized in the evening of Mar 30 after it suffered water ingress at 7.30 p.m. and capsized 15 minutes later. The crew of two was saved uninjured by the Dutch dredger "Interballast I" and taken to the KNRM station in Breskens. Rijkwaterstaat deployed the patrol boat "RWS 79" to check the sinking site for possible oil spills. On Mar 31 the sheerleg "Cormorant" of Multraship was deployed from the Gent - Terneuzen Canal to the incident site being towed by the tugs "Hendrik 7" and "Multratug 22".
