Engine failure off Ouessant

In the morning of Dec 4, 2023, the 'Wilhelmine Essberger' en route from Antwerp to Ravenna, suffered an engine failure and drifted 61 nautical miles off the coast of Ouessant before being repaired. The maritime prefecture was notified and decided to send the emergency tug 'Abeille Bourbon' as a precaution. The fault was finally repaired by the crew in the afternoon. The ship was able to resume its voyage under the supervision of the tug with an ETA at the port of destination as of Dec 13.

Tanker pilot spotted drifting hose

On Sep 14, 2020, the pilot aboard the 'Wilhelmine Essberger', during the exit maneuver in Carteya Guadarranque, reported a drifting hose between the buoys 2 and 4 which had a length of about 4 meters , which could have posed a danger to navigation. The 'Salvamar Alkaid' was mobilized by Salvamento Marítimo uppn the report and towed the object to Mazagón. The tanker continued on its way to Algeciras.
