Fire in port of Strande

NIn the foremidday of Jan 11., 2019, a fire broke out aboard the "Tarmo II" (69 gt/built 2007) in the port of Strande in the Kiel Bight. The fire brigades from Strande, Dänischenhagen and Altenholz were alterted at 9.20 a.m. and attended with several engines. Smoke had developed on the ship from a smouldering fire behind the wooden paneling in the galley. A squad with respirators boarded the former trawler which had been converted to a yacht to remove the panels so that the fire could be extinguished. The cause of the fire was obviously a technical defect in the heating system. The fvessel waited in Strande on the transfer to a shipyard, to be rebuilt for maritime burials.
