Seven boat people rescued in the Strait of Gibraltar
On April 18 at around 7:27 p.m., the 'Salvamar Enif' rescued five people from a toy boat in the Strait of Gibraltar. They were located 20 nautical miles from Trafalgar after maritime controllers conducted a sweep of vessels in the area, and one of them reported the boat's position after being sighted. At around 8:00 p.m., the 'Salvamar Denébola' rescued two more people 19 nautical miles from Punta Europa. The SAR boat, the SAR helicopter Helimer 220, and vessels in the area participated in the search for the inflatable kayak they were in. One of them, the tanker 'Maran Artemis' (IMO: 9753002), en route from Fos sur Mer to Algeciras, reported the sighting, giving its position and indicating that the boat had capsized and that the two occuptants were on board. They were dropped off in Algeciras.
Fishing vessel towed to Barbate
On Feb 21 2025, the Spanish flagged fishing vessel 'Monterro' was disabled and adrift four nautical miles southwest of Barbate. The CCS Tarifa of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the 'Salvamar Enif' to assist, which took the boat in tow and safely pulled it to the port.
24 people on two boats got assistance
On Nov 5, a migrant boat was reported adrift two nautical miles southwest of Cabo de Gata. The CCS Almería of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the 'Salvamar Spica' to assist, which rescued the 16 people on board and transferred them to Almería. At Banco del Hoyo in Cádiz, a merchant ship spotted an inflatable boat with eight people on board. The CCS Tarifa of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the 'Salvamar Enif', which took them to Barbate.
