284 migrants rescued off the Canary Islands
On Feb 9, the 'Salvamar Adhara' and the 'Salvamar Acrux' rescued the occupants of two cayucos, which were located 60 and 62 nautical miles south of El Hierro. Aboard the boats were 67 and 111 migrants of Sub-Saharan origin. The castaways were tansferred to La Restinga. The 'Salvamar Alpheratz' rescued 50 sub-Saharan migrants and transferred them to Puerto de los Cristianos. On Feb 10 at 1.40 a.m, the 'Guardamar Calíope' arrived in Arrecife with 56 sub-Saharan migrants on boat, who had been rescued from a rubber boat 38 nautical miles northeast of Arrecife in the night.
67 migrants escorted to La Restinga
The crew of the 'Salvamar Adhara' has accompanied a cayuco with 67 sub-Saharan people on board, among them two minors, on the morning of Jan 27. The boat had been located about eight nautical miles southeast of La Restinga (El Hierro). The response was coordinated by the CCS Tenerife of Salvamento Marítimo. 80 migrants rescued off La Restinga
On Jan 23, the 'Salvamar Adhara' has rescued 80 migrants, including a baby and several women, from a cayuco, which had been located by a Sasemar 102 aircraft 48 nautical miles from La Restinga. They were rescued and transferred to the port of La Restinga.
