Crew blamed for broken wires

Sun Apr 27 18:01:07 CEST 2014 Timsen

On Apr 22, 2014, at 2 p.m. the mooring ropes of the "Almandin" broke in the port of Brake all in a sudden. The stern railings were severely damaged when broken off by a wire at the stern. The accident happened when the vessel was passed by another and started to move by the suction. The damage caused was some thousand Euro. The police thought that the bulkcarrier was faulty moored as the crew was unfamiliar with the currents and tide and failed to keep the tension of the wires at bow and aft. The ship left the South Pier in Brake again on Apr 26 bound for Moerdijk with an ETA of Apr 27.
