Allison in Fur

On the afternoon of Aug 6, the 'Mjølner', en route from Mjølner, allided with the quay as it was about to dock in Fur. The impact was so severe that it tore a fender off the outermost part of the pier. A piece of rubber fell off and got lodged in the propeller Divers were sent into the water to examine the damage to the ship. It was assessed that the ferry could not continue sailing. Therefore, for several hours it was impossible to get to or from Fur. The allision was due to the strong gusts of wind. A reserve ferry has been called in, the 'Mary' from the Sundsøre-Hvalpsund route at 5 p.m. The 'Mjølner' was meanwhile repaired and waiting to be approved by the Danish Maritime Authority. The ferry returned on the route on the morning of Aug 7, releasing the 'Mary'.
