The ship was partially loaded, it had been in the process of loading coal and by the time of the accident had 12,000 tons on board. The crew remained on board, and an SAR tug left Korsakov in order to pull the vessel back to deeper water. It remained stuck in pos. 49° 37.44' N 142° 7.90' E as of Oct 26, pounded by heavy surf.
