Ferry suffered engine failure

On the morning of Aug 5, the Patmos Port Authority was informed by the master of the 'Leros Express' that, during the execution of the planned route Patmos-Arkioi-Agathonisi-Pythagorion, the port side main engine failed, The ferry returned under its own power to the port of Patmos, where it safely disembarked its 15 passengers. The Port Authority of Patmos initially prohibited the sailing of the ship, until the damage was repaired, After presenting a certificate of seaworthiness from the monitoring classificcation society, the ship sailed under its own power, without passengers, bound for the port of Lakki Lerou. Passengers who were going to travel to their next destinations were informed by the company.

The owner company of the 'Leros Express' informed on Aug 5, 2024, that due to damage to the ship, it would not execute the scheduled routes until further notice. The Port Authority of Leros was informed by the Master of the ship about a fault that occurred in the generator during the preparation of the ship to run a route from the port of Agia Marina on the route Leipsos – Patmos – Arkios – Agathonisi – Pythagorion Samos and return. The Port Authority banned the ferry from sailing until repairs were carried out and a certificated of class maintenance presented by the monitoring classification society.

The Port Authority of Leros was informed on Oct 25, 2023, at noon by the master of the 'Leros Express', which was sailing a scheduled route from the port of Myrties, Kalymnos to Agia Marina, Leros, with five passengers on board, that heavy smoke was observed in the port side engine off the port of Agia Marina. The ship sailed with its own power to the port of Agia Marina and disembarked the passengers safely. The Port Authority of Leros prohibited the sailing of the vessel until the damage was repaired and a certificate of seaworthiness presented by the surveyor monitoring the ship.
