Lifeboat kept trimaran afloat after collision with clipper

Mon Jul 21 09:21:03 CEST 2025 Timsen

On July 19 , 2025, the trimaran 'Kikuyu' was in collision with a 28-meter clipper on the IJsselmeer near Urk. The two vessels likely overlooked each other. The trimaran sustained heavy damage. One of the three hulls partially broke off, leaving the vessel barely afloat. The crew of the KNRM station in Urk was alerted and set out in the lifeboats "Kapiteins Hazewinkel" and "Veronica." After checking, all crew members were found to have escaped unharmed. The Dragonfly 1000 could be kept afloat with a pump and towed to the port of Urk by the Kapiteins Hazewinkel'. The clipper was able to continue under its own power to the same port. Urk. Report with photo: https://www.knrm.nl/nieuws/knrm-reddingstation-urk/aanvaring-op-ijsselmeer
