The "Viriato Primero" which had been seized 100 nautical miles off Lorient on Jan 9 with a crew of 12 on board and diverted to the port of Lorient-Keroman, was released on Jan 14. The ship's cargo, consisting of ten tons of hake, was sold at auction for € 39,000. At 5 p.m. the ship sailed, bound to Aviles.
Longliner seized in Lorient
The "Viriato Primero" was seized on Jan 10, 2019, accused of taking advantage of French quotas without selling his fish in France.The longliner which fished 100 miles from Lorient, was diverted to the port of Keroman by the patrol boat "Geranium" with its crew of twelve on board. Medevac following head injury
On Nov 19 2012, at 10:20 p.m. the MRCC Corsen was alerted by the "Sant Yann 2" after a crew member suffered a head injury. A conference call was initiated between the ship, the MRCC and the Maritime Medical Consultation Center of Toulouse and a medevac by helicopter was decided. The ship was about 120 nautical miles west of Camaret. A Cayman helicopter of the Navy took off from the naval aviation base Lanvéoc at 11:25 p.m. with a medical team of the Army Health Service on board. The fishing vessel was heading east to be closer to the coast in order to minimize the response time. After fifty minutes, the helicopter arrived in the area. The doctor and was hoisted aboard the ship to support the patient and prepare him for evacuation. The hoist was completed at 01.25 a.m. After a short refueling stop at Lanvéoc necessitated, the patient was finally transferred to the Brest Naval Base where he was supported by a medical team.
