KNRM assisted ex Volvo Ocean Racer

Fri Dec 20 09:30:35 CET 2019 Timsen

On Dec 15, 2019, at 1.25 p.m. the KNRM lifeboat 'Zeemanshoop' assisted the 'Boudragon' off Breskens after the the rudder control was broken off. The ex-Volvo Ocean racing yacht was on its way back to the port of Breskens to end the day when the rudder control broke off in the fairway of the Hoofdplate. The crew reported the problem to the Dutch Coastguard, which alerted the lifeboat cre. Shortly after an alarm, the lifeboat rendezvoused with the yacht just outside the port of Breskens. The crew of the yacht had just been able to install the emergency operation of the helm. The lifeboat returned to its berth and the crew helped mooring the yacht.
