Casualty towed to Crete

The disabled "Aries" was taken in tow by the tug "Christos XVI" (MMSI: 237147300) and taken to a safe anchorage off the south coast of Crete where the ship was mooring in the early morning of July 27 for repairs and surveys.

Engine trouble off Crete

The "Aries" was suffering from an engine trouble in the Mediterranean Sea already since July 16, 2016. The ship was en route from Damietta to Fos and went ahead at a reduced speed before finally being disabled on July 25, 2016, in a strait between southwest Crete and Liviko, Pelagos island. The vessel seemed to be slowly drifting towards the southwest coast of Crete.
