Tug capsized in JMI Waters
On Jan 6, 2025, the 'AMB 01' capsized in JMI Waters, Semarang, at 9:22 p.m. LT. The accident happened after leaving the channel following freshwater refueling at 9.22 p.m. After 30 minutes, the vessel listed 30 degrees to the port side. The crew reported the condition to the pilot station via Channel 12 and requested permission to return to the dock. At 9.36 p.m. the pilot station requested assistance from the 'Bima 306' to assist the tug and directed the vessel toward the breakwater. At 9.400 p.m. the 'Bima 306' began attaching towing lines. At this point, the vessel was listing at a 50-degree angle. At 9.48 p.m. the tug capsized near Opsico, close to the green buoy. At 9.59 p.m. all crew members were successfully rescued, with two aboard the 'Bima 306' and six aboard the 'Anjani'. At 10:03 p.m. the towline between the 'AMB 01' and the 'Bima 306' detached. The 'Bima 306' requested assistance from the 'Anjani' to reattach the line. At 10:29p.m. the 'Bima 306' began towingthe 'AMB 01' towards JMI, near the burial site. At 11:44 p.m. the SAR vessel 'Sadewa' assisted in pushing the tig to shore, which was secured at 12:06 a.m. On Jan 7 at 07:30 a.m. the wreck was surrounded by an oil boom to prevent further pollution. The ship's agent, PT. Antares Bumi Pasifik, has requested assistance to tow the tug into the port. The cause of the capsizing is currently under investigation. Weather conditions at the time were reported to be calm with no wind.
