Ferry allided with quay in Leros
On the morningof May 18, 2025, the Port Authority of Leros was informed about the allision of the 'Saonisos' with a quay, during stern mooring operations in the port. Following the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance from the monitoring classification society, as well as a declaration by the Master, according to whom the ferry only suffered scrapes, but no further damage at the stern, the ship was approved to execute its scheduled route to Lipsi, with 23 passengers, nine cars, one motorcycle and six trucks on board. No injuries were reported from the incident and no marine pollution was observed.
Ferry suffered engine failure
On the afternoon of Dec 30, 2024, the Port Authority of Rhodes was informed by the Joint Search and Rescue Coordination Center (EKSED) of the Hellenic Coast Guard Headquarters that the 'Saonisos', which had sailed from the port of Rhodes to the port of Symi, had suffered a failure of the port side main engine northwest of Rhodes, without requesting assistance. The ship was operating a scheduled route from Rhodes to Symi, Tilos, Nisyros, Kos and Kalymnos, withot passengers and loaded with one truck and carrying 20 crew members. Due to the adverse weather conditions prevailing in the area, the ferry initially anchored in the bay of Kallithea, Rhodes. On the morning of Dec 31, it sailed under its own power to the port of Rhodes where it docked safely. The Central Port Authority of Rhodes initially prohibited the departure of the ship. After the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of seaworthiness by the classification society that monitors it, the sailing ban was lifted and its voyages were permitted to continue.
Ferry suffered engine failure
On the morning of Dec 22, 2024, the Port Authority of Patmos was informed that the 'Saonisos' had suffered a failure of the starboard side main engine upon the ship's arrival at the port, where it safely docked. The ferry was coming from the ports of Kalymnos, Leros and Leipsos with further destinations Arkios, Agathonisi, Pythagorio and return. There were 14 passengers, six trucks and one motorcycle on board the ferry . The Patmos Port Authority prohibited the ship from sailing until the damage was repaired.
