Report: Tug navigated without safe margins when running aground
The 'Pampus' navigated without safe margins, and the crew relied on charts that lacked relevant information about how deep the water was on the route. These were the reasons why the ship ran aground at Norrbyskär, outside Umeå, on Feb 12, 2024, the Swedish Accident Investigation Board has concluded in its final report. The Accident Investigation Board is now recommending that the shipping company work more on maritime safety. The Swedish Transport Agency is being recommended to disseminate more information about safety to shipping companies with work vessels.
