Bunker spill concentrated within Temasek Fairway
After the collision between the "DL Salvia" and the "Sunny Horizon" in the waters between Jurong Island and Tuas View Extension Reclamation Area on Sep 9 at 2 p.m. the oil spill caused by 60 tons spilt from a breached bunker tank on the "DL Salvai" was concentrated within Temasek Fairway, about 700 metres east of Sultan Shoal. The MPA dispatched its patrol craft to deal with the spill, and oil spill response companies were activated in support. Seven patrol and anti-pollution craft have been deployed. Work was ongoing in the night of Sep 10, with the MPA coordinating the clean-up with other government agencies and the ship owners. The two vessels remained on the West Jurong anchorage. The MPA has issued broadcasts to ships to navigate cautiously when in the vicinity of the incident site. It was investigating the cause of the collision.
Bulker and LPG Tanker involved in Collision off Singapore, 60 tons oil spill, no injuries
SINGAPORE, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Less than 60 metric tons of bunker was spilled following a collision in Singapore waters between a South Korea-registered liquefied petroleum gas carrier and a bulk carrier registered in Hong Kong, China, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore said on Sunday. The bulk carrier Sunny Horizon collided with the liquefied petroleum gas carrier DL Salvia in the afternoon at the Temasek Fairway, about 700 meters east of Sultan Shoal, it said. The Sultan Shoal is near the Jurong Island in southwestern Singapore.
