Fri Jan 27 09:20:41 CET 2017 Timsen

Enroute from Bützfleth to Klaipeda the "Georg Essberger" suffered an engine failure during the transit of the Kiel Canal on Jan 26, 2017, at 7:45 a.m. The ship had just left the large Southern lock in Brunsbüttel Eastbound when the trouble occurred. The master informed the other ships that the ship was unmanoeverable and he was trying to reach the navy pilings North in the inner port of Brunsbüttel with the remaining speed. The crew managed to tie up the tanker at the pilings, and after repairs were carried out, the ship resumed the voyage at 8.40 p.m. with an ETA in Klaipeda as of Jan 27, 9 p.m.
