Grounding on Paraná river

The 'Cofco1 I' ran aground on May 27, 2020, on the Paraná at river km 289, obstructing the navigation in the main channel. The tugs 'Brutus', 'Albacora' and 'Coopor Estibador' arrived on May 28 and were assisting to refloat the vessel, but without any success. Consequently, the Coastguard has allowed vessels to transit through the area, but only those vessels proceeding upstream, drawing no more than 7.50 metres, during daylight hours. The ship was stuck in position 33 37 36S, 059 42 40W. It was refloated on May 28 at 5.10 p.m. by the tugs 'Brutus', 'Albacora', 'Coopor Estibador I' and 'Coopor Estibador II'. At 10.15 p.m. the Coast Guard reinstated the up and down river navigation through the grounded area with maximum permissible draft of 9.71 Metres FW.
