Return of propulsion shafts delayed
The 'Caledonian Island', serving on the route Ardrossan-Brodick, is now expected to return to service on June 9 due to a delay in the return of the propulsion shafts following repairs. The ferries 'Glen Sannox' and 'Alfred' will continue to operate the Troon-Brodick route during this period.
Return of ferry further delayed
CalMac have advised that there is a potential further delay if the return of the ' Caledonian Isles', coming only weeks out from the anticipated return. The warning came after the propulsion shafts, which were sent to Denmark for machining, arrived back at the vessel approximately 10 days later than scheduled, due to the need for additional works identified during the process.
Return of ferry pushed back again
The return of the 'Caledonian Isles', which has been out of service since last February - has been delayed by a further month, after facing a series of issues including rust and twisted frames. It had been due to return to the Arran route by the end of April, but that has now been pushed back to the end of May, after Calmac found new issues with the tubes for the propeller shafts. Until then, the service to Brodick will continue from Troon with a two-vessel service of the 'Glen Sannox' and 'Alfred'. The operator ClMac was in regular contact with Arran's ferry committee.
