Bulk carrier sank moored vessel
On the night of Oct 15, 2024, the Togo flagged cargo m/v 'Princesse Jessica' (MMSI: 671396100; CS: 5VIT8), which was moored at Pier 2 of the Autonomous Port of Dakar, was hit at port side by the 'Zografia', which was maneuvering to dock at Pier 3 en route from Tianjin, loaded with a cargo of suger. The 'Princesse Jessica' capsized and sak. There were two mechanics and a cook on board. All the three crew members escaped unharmed. The port authorities launched investigations to determine the precise causes of the accident. The port teams intervened quickly to secure the scene and set up beacons, in accordance with regulatory procedures. The incident did not affect the normal port activities. Measures were underway to refloat the damaged ship.
Crew member found hanged in his cabin
A Ukrainian crew member of the 'Zografia' was found hanged in his cabin on the ship on March 27, 2024. It was unclear if the apparent suicide was linked to missile hit in the Red Sea two months ago. The bulk carrier was under repair near Piraeus at the repair yard of Perama. The victim was a kitchen cleaner and was declared dead in a nearby hospital. An autopsy was under way.
Fire in Novorossiysk
On Jan 21, 2015 at 01.50 a.m. Moscow time a fire erupted in a cargo hole 3 of the "Seahope II" while she was loading sulfur in Novorossiysk. At 03.10 a.m. the fire was extinguished by a port firefighting team. No injures reported.
