Turkish ship Perge rescues 112 Libyan refugees off Tripoli
Turkish ship Perge rescues 112 Libyan refugees off Tripoli that were on a plastic boat in a very difficult situation. Incident happened on July 29. According to Turkish maritime news portal www.denizhaber.com ; the captain of Perge contacted with Italian Navy and upon contact, Navy ordered the ship to proceed to Sicily. According to news received many of the casualties were women and children. Perge is a Liberian flag dry cargo ship managed by Turkish management company Polaris Shipping. Capt. Alp Guney, Master of M/V Perge said www.denizhaber.com the following: "All immigrants safely picked up from tug boat Hamal and from rubber boat. There are 112 immigrants on board. There is no need any medical assistance for now.there is only one pregnant woman. She is under conrol of medical officer at hospital in accomodation. According to information that i received from immigrants three days ago 5 persons have been dead. No dead body found on area or inside the rubber boat during sar operation" As of 16:30 GMT the vessel PERGE was proceeding towards Lampedusa Island.
