Injured crew member medevaced at Gunfleet Sands

One crew member of the "Wind Pioneer" was airlifted to hospital after suffering a leg injury at Dong Energy’s 172MW Gunfleet Sands offshore wind farm in the east of England on Feb 21, 2016, at 4 p.m. The crew member who was on site to carry out maintenance work suffered a lacerated leg during a routine exercise. Support was provided by DONG Energy and HM Coastguard and a helicopter was called in to transfer the injured man to hospital for treatment. The man was first transferred to a support vessel and then winched on board the helicopter. The Clacton Coastguard Rescue Team was also on hand to assistand was flown to Colchester Hospital by Air Sea Rescue helicopter. Support was provided by Dong and HM Coastguard which dispatched a search and rescue helicopter from Lydd. "T," the spokesman said.
