Fishing vessel likely has sunk

The "Western Venture" has likely sunk in the western Aleutians. A Coast Guard helicopter crew could find no trace of the Western Venture during an aerial survey on Oct 21. The ship had caught on fire on Oct 20, and the five crew members abandoned ship. They were picked up by the Seattle-based "Aleutian Beauty", which delivered crewmen to Adak on Oct 21. The five crew members were expected to be flown to Anchorage on Oct 22. There were about 2,000 gallons of diesel aboard the "Western Venture", and the fuel was likely consumed in the fire. The helicopter crew didn't see any sheen during its flyover. The Coast Guard continued to investigate the cause of the fire which had started in the vessel’s bow and quickly consumed the entire vessel.
