Wangerland pulled yacht from Berlin off a shoal
In the evening of Sep 12, 2012, the "Wangerland" assisted the German yacht "Ursalin" which had run aground in the Elbe estuary at 7.15 p.m. and radioed a Mayday via VHF canal 16. The yacht was aground south of the buoy 21. Wind on scene was SW 6 bf, and the yacht was pounded by the surf. The "Wangerland“ which was by chance in the area was able to pull the boat from the shoal and deliver it to the lifeboat "Vormann Jantzen“ which towed the "Ursalin“ to Cuxhaven. The police launch "Bürgermeister Brauer“ escorted the tow on its final leg to the emergency pier of the SVC Cuxhaven.
