Container ship ran onto reef

The "Wan Hai 502" ran aground in the South China Sea in position 01 13 S 106 50 E in the Karimata Strait on Aug 30, 2018, at 10 p.m. The ship was en route from Singapore to Jakarta and ran onto the reef while sailing at full speed. The ship has to be lightered, but the operation was being hampered by adverse weather. SMIT Salvage was tasked with the refloating of the vessel and was mobilizing equipment to the grounding site.
