Cruise ship suffered flooding in storm
The 'Voyager of the Seas' was rocked by rough weather that shook guest cabins and caused flooding around the ship on its way back to Galveston, Texas, as part of a round-trip, five-night sailing that visited Cozumel, Mexico, which had departed on Jan. 22, 2024. The ship sailed through three bouts of rough weather that brought rain, hail and high winds beginning late on Jan 26. The ship was approaching dark skies and rain around 2:30 p.m. Some passengers were walking around in lifejackets, and praying and comforting one another in the halls. Staterooms flooded as water filled the balconies. The crew had the situation under control and handled it in a professional manner. Some rooms had wet carpets, but everything else was cleaned up. Some minor injuries to a few passengers have been reported, mostly in the ship’s casino caused by the slot machines.
