Ship sold after repairs

Wed Feb 05 21:07:24 CET 2025 Timsen

The “Volcán de Tauce”, which has been moored since Jan 14 at the Santa Catalina dock in the port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, after resolving the technical trouble that altered the La Palma line in December by inserting the catamaran “Volcán de Tirajana”, has been sold to the Emirates International Air Cargo company from the United Arab Emirates. The ferry will presumably be delivered on Feb 13. The management of the Armas Trasmediterránea Group has informed the company's staff on Feb 5 of the sale of the ship, which is listed as the property of Anarafe S.L., one of the companies controlled by the Armas Trasmediterránea Group. According to reports, its new owner intends to convert it into a hospital ship.

Mon Feb 03 20:40:18 CET 2025 Timsen

While the “Bentayga Cargo” returnedfrom its first trip to Huelva after the mishap of the “Marie Curie” on Jan 30 in the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the damaged ship arrived at the Tenerife Shipyards on Feb 2 in the East dock, where work has commenced to repair part of the damage, so that the Maritime Authority of Tenerife authorizes it to sail to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, to enter the ASTICAN shipyard. The “Ciudad de Ibiza” is also in ASTICAN, where it has beensince Dec 26, 2024, for repairs of the damage it had suffered on Dec 18 during the maneuver to change berths amid strong winds and a pilot on board in the port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in which it damaged two sections of the hull on the starboard side. It was estimated that the ship may return to the services of the Armas Trasmediterránea Grou this week. The “Volcán de Tauce” has been moored since Jan 14 at the Santa Catalina dock in the port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, after resolving the technical trouble that altered the La Palma line in December by inserting the catamaran “Volcán de Tirajana”. Ferry broke down again

Wed Dec 18 12:51:47 CET 2024 Timsen

On Dec 16 at around 04:30, the ferry “Volcán de Tauce” suffered engine trouble and was sailing at a speed of just over nine knots between La Palma and Tenerife and at approximately 2 p.m. when it was already in front of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the tugs “VB Canarias” and “VB Balear” came to assist it in the docking manoeuvre at the Grupo Armas Trasmediterránea terminal, just a few days after the ship had completed repairs, lasting three weeks, in the East dock after an engine failure. The Armas Trasmediterránea Group replaced the “Volcán de Tauce” again with the catamaran “Volcán de Teno”, which started operating the service on the afternoon of Dec 17 from the port of Los Cristianos.
