Ferries to be renamed and change flag
The "Volcán de Tamasite" and the "Villa de Agaete," the two vessels that are part of the Grupo Armas Trasmediterránea package acquired by DFDS, will be renamed, repainted with the corporate image of their new shipowner, and will soon abandon the Spanish flag and transfer to the Cypriot flag, As FRS did before, the DFDS fleet operating in the Strait of Gibraltar is registered in Cyprus. This registry is quite diligent in terms of administrative procedures and inspections, has been computerized for years and is available 24 hours a day
Ferry back in service
The 'Villa de Agaete' has joined the maritime bridge between the two Canarian capitals Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the morning of Nov 27. In addition, on weekends it will reinforce the service between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Morro Jable in Fuerteventura. The renewed high-speed vessel was offering two daily departures from Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the first at 07.15 a.m. the second at 5.30 p.m. In the opposite direction, the vessel also makes two departures, the first at 09.45 a.m. and the second at 8 p.m.
Ferry to be finally repaired
The "Alborán" has been docked at the Astican Yard in Las Palmas on July 25, where it will undergo a thorough repair and interior reconditioning, with the intention of returning to service again in September. The Fleet Directorate and the On-Board Services Department of the Armas-Trasmediterranean Group work on the development of the project, which provides interesting changes in its current distribution. When leaving the shipyard, the ship will be bearing the new name “Villa de Agaete”.
