Vestlandia suffered rudder damage

Tue Sep 24 09:32:19 CEST 2013 Timsen

On Sep 19, 2013, the "Vestlandia" encountered technical problems with the rudder in the Davis Strait, and the owner has decided to send the ship to Nuuk for repairs. Royal Arctic Line and Royal Arctic Bygdeservice changed the timetables in Uummannaq and Upernavik districts after the trouble of the "Vestlandia". All supplies for the two districts were provisionally carried by the "Pajuttaat". Currently it was not yet known how long the repairs of the damage would take.

VESTLANDIA 8211100

Fri Dec 17 09:43:21 CET 2010 Timsen

In the night of Dec 17, 2010, the hull of the "Vestlandia" - running in charter of the Royal Arctic Bygdeservice - was damaged by what probably was an ice flow north of Upernavik. The ship was at anchor at the Nuussuaq bight at that time and is now being surveyed. There is a certain risk of fuel leaking out. If the ship has to undergo repairs before proceeding, the cargo would have to be transferred to other ships of the Royal Arctic Bygdeservice before.
