Tanker grounded on the Rhine
On Aug 13, 2017, the "Ventrans II", 2588 ts (EU-No.: 02333127), enroute from Mannheim to Rotterdam, was disabled and ran aground on the Rhine near Neuwied at 7.45 p.m. due to a technical malfunction which caused a blackout on board and subsequent rudder failure. The fire brigades from Weißenthurm and Neuwied were alerted. The captain was able to carry out an emergency anchoring manoever, and the crew started attempts to get the engine running again. At 8.55 p.m. the systems were working again. the fire boat from Koblenz and launches of the water police escorted the tanker to a berth for repairs. The ship berthed in Rotterdam on Aug 17. Collision on the Rhine
In the morning of May 16, 2015, the unloaded "Ventrans 2", 2558 ts (EU-No.: 02333127), was in collision with the Belgian flagged, self propelled barge "Love Story", 3006 ts (EU-No.: 02324193), which was sailing river upstream in Basel near the Dreirosen Bridge on the Rhine. One crew member on each of the ships was injured. One was treated on scene, the other in hospital. Both ships could continue their voyages, the "Ventrans 2" was in the Kembs locks on May 17, the "Love Story" in the Au port.
