Collision on the Waal
The "Veerhaven VIII" (EU-No.: 02322865) was in collision with a container ship on the Waal near the ferry pt. at Brakel on Dec 25, 2017. The pusher tug lost two barges with coal. A tank barge was in collision with the drifting barges. The fire brigade, police and Rijkswaterstaat were alerted. No one was injured. All three ships have suffered damage. Two ships proceeded in the direction of Gorinchem. The fire boat "Zuid Holland" escorted the container ship to Gorinchem. The "RWS 72" of Rijkswaterstaat guided ship traffic so that other ships could pass the incident site with caution. Also the "RWS 71" was deployed to the scene.
