Sun Jun 11 17:36:02 CEST 2023 Timsen

In the morning of June 6, 2023, the 'Ulisse', the 'Bridge' (IMO: 7817830) and the 'Helga' (IMO: 7320693), all owned by the ferry operator Caronte & Tourist, were seized and their assets confiscated by the Italian police due to corruption allegations. The company's management was accused of corruption. The 'Ulisse' was located in Messina, the 'Bridge' in Milazzo and the 'Helga' in Palermo. The vessels will have to remain at the docks during the investigation. The court also froze almost 30 million Euros in the company's bank accounts.

Three ferries seized for shortcomings

Mon Jan 13 09:10:44 CET 2020 Timsen

On Jan 10, 2020, the 'Pace', Caronte' and 'Ulisse' have been seized on behalf of the financiers of Messina and Palermo and the Prosecutor's Office in Trapani. The three ships were not up to standard regarding access ramps, toilets and doors for the transport of passengers with reduced mobility of the busiest lines during the summer season between Trapani and the Egadi Islands. Investigations by the Palermo economic and financial police unit, coordinated by the Messina prosecutor's office, led to the seizure of the three ships.
