Medevac off Campbell Bay

Mon Feb 27 11:38:29 CET 2017 Timsen

The Indian Coast Guard unit of Andaman and Nicobar region got a message from the "Afra Hawthorn" on Feb 25, 2017, requesting the medevac of the Indian crew member Tejinder Singh who was suffering from acute abdominal pain and associated disorders. The tanker was enroute from Egypt to Tanjung Pelepas and located 45 NM SW of Campbell Bay. A Coast Guard interceptor boat sailed immediately from Campbell to evacuate the patient from the vessel. In the meantimethe Coast Guard medical officer had provided tele-medical advice. At 11.50 a.m. the patient was taken off and provided first aid and medical assistance before he was brought to Campbell Bay. Upon an arrival the patient was transferred to the Primary Health Centre, Campbell Bay for further treatment. The condition of patient was reported as stable.
